Who is the new Below Deck Down Under cast member Nicolas Cattelan? Career Explored 

Below Deck Down Under season 3 has shown viewers the difficulties the yacht crew faces due to unforeseen circumstances and problems within the team. With the drama, conflicts, and arguments between the cast, viewers are excited to see more of what happens in the upcoming episodes.

For this season, cast members Tzarina Mace-Ralph, Lara Rigby, Adair Werley, Brianna Duffield, Marina Marcondes de Barros, Alesia Harris, and Harry Van Vliet have returned.

Below Deck Down Under Season 3, Episode 11, titled The Shots You Don't Take, was released exclusively on Bravo TV on April 14, 2025. In this episode, new crew members Nate Salmon and Nicolas Cattelan were introduced to replace Bosun Wihan Du Toit and Johnny Arvanitis, respectively. Nicolas is a 24-year-old deckhand who has just six months of experience in the yachting field.

In this episode, Wihan and Johnny were fired after Captain Jason confronted them about their behavior. Wihan's lack of accountability for his actions and Johnny's aggressive reaction led to Captain Jason taking this crucial step to maintain discipline within the team and resolve the crew's problems, as he saw many of them complain about Below Deck Down Under cast member Wihan.

Nicolas Cattelan joined the Below Deck Down Under crew as a deckhand

During his confessional interview, the new Below Deck Down Under deckhand shared details of his background and childhood. Captain Jason had previously revealed that Nicolas didn't have much experience, however he wasn't concerned about it.

Nicolas admitted that he was new to the world of yachting and this yacht was "by far the biggest boat" he had ever worked on. Looking back on his high school years, Cattelan shared that he was into movies and was interested in science. Being part of the Below Deck Down Under crew made him feel like he was one of the members of the "Starship Enterprise" crew. Nicolas said:

“I actually got into yachting pretty recently. Katina is by far the biggest boat I’ve ever worked on. Super complicated layout. Almost like the Starship Enterprise. Free time is precious on the yacht. It must be effortless and truly relaxing."

When asked about his hobbies, Nicolas shared that he likes to listen to classical music and movie soundtracks as well as going to museums and hiking. He continued:

"I was always a nerd about all sorts of things. Movies. Science. Being here makes me feel like I’m part of the Starship Enterprise crew. I feel like I’m discovering strange new worlds, and new cultures and planets and boldly going where no one has gone before.”

During his first charter, Nicolas was glad to be a part of the crew. And when the charter guests offered him a shot, he drank tequila with them, later realizing that he wasn't allowed to do so. He stated that he was still learning and would be careful not to repeat it as this could get him fired.
