Who was Mollie Tibbetts from The Last Mile, Dateline: Secrets Uncovered?

Mollie Cecilia Tibbetts was born in California on May 8, 1998, to Rob and Laura Tibbetts. She was in second grade when her parents got divorced, and she moved to Lowa with her mother and two siblings.

In June 2018, Mollie attended a wedding where she met her father, who maintained a close relationship with all the children even after the divorce. At the time of her disappearance, she was working at the children's day camp at a medical center and was a college student studying psychology.

In 2018, she disappeared while jogging and was subsequently murdered. After months of extensive search and with the help of the locals, forming support groups, and with the expertise of an investigative team, no suspects came up in the case.

Finally, her body was found in a field of Lowa, according to Fox News. The case closed with the arrest of Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a 24-year-old suspect who had been charged with first-degree murder.

Here is the timeline of what happened in Tibbett's case from The Last Mile, Dateline: Secrets Uncovered

On July 18, 2018, at around 7.30 pm, Tibbett was jogging in Brooklyn Lowa. She was wearing dark-colored running shorts and a pink top, according to the Law Department of Public Safety.

Jack, Tibbett's boyfriend, also confirmed that he saw her Snapchat message at 10.00 pm that night, but it was not clear when exactly she sent that. Tibbett had been dog-sitting for her boyfriend, who was out of town that night. On July 19, Mollie didn't go to work and never answered the employee's calls. Even Jack's messages were never answered.

Tibbett's friends and family made a Facebook page, "Finding Mollie Tibbett." But on July 22, they called off the public search and relied on the investigation that was going on. FBI also joined the case. On July 31, the first press conference happened, in which it was revealed that till then, investigators had chased more than 200 leads.

On August 1, a reward fund of $1,72,000 was announced. Investigators were unable to comment if there were any suspects in the case. As days passed, a local man from Lowa came forward who claimed he saw Mollie at 9.00 pm that night. This resulted in authorities launching a website to gain more tips from the public on the case and make themselves easily accessible if they have any bit of information.

After a few more days of investigation, law enforcement told the family to resume their regular lives. On August 21, Mollie's body was found dead in a field in Iowa. Later, a blurred surveillance video surfaced that showed Mollie being followed by a black Car.

The investigators arrested Cristhian Bahena Rivera, who claimed that he approached her the night he saw her running. He started running alongside her. Tibbett threatened to call 911, and Rivera got furious about this. He claimed to not remember what happened after that.

The upcoming episode, "The Last Mile," is episode 7 of season 14 of Dateline: Secrets Uncovered and airs today at 8.00 pm. Catch it only on Oxygen.
