Played by Yaya DaCosta, Andrea “Andy” Freemann was introduced as a recurring character in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2. While season 3 saw her almost becoming a series regular, she will not be coming back for the fourth installment of the show.

“When I read the scripts and I got a feel for Andrea’s personality, I was like, “Oh my goodness, this woman is fierce.” This woman is allowing me to tap into a place that I really haven’t given myself permission to go to, because we live in a world where women are oftentimes condemned for being too confident, too smart and too strong. Meanwhile, men are applauded for these things, and Andrea Freemann does not care.”
The Lincoln Lawyer character, Andrea, right from the beginning has asserted her dominance. She is never scared of facing Mickey and she is also friends with his ex-wife.

Introduced as a recurring character, Andrea Freemann went on to become an integral part of the season 2 and 3 storylines of The Lincoln Lawyer. She is a prosecutor at the Van Nuys division of the L.A. County District Attorney's Office and holds the dream of becoming a DA someday.
It is shown that Mickey, despite facing her multiple times in court, never managed to secure a win against her. Though they started as rivals, Mickey and Andrea developed romantic feelings. However, things did not work out for them by the end of season 3.
Season 3 ended with Andrea taking up Mickey’s advice to stand up against the DA to put her back in the high-profile case that she was taken away from earlier in the season. Since nothing in the third season suggested her character would be written off, the decision came as a surprise for many.
Andrea’s absence in the book The Law of Innocence, on which the fourth season is based, can be cited as the main reason behind her being written off from the show. However, previously also The Lincoln Lawyer had taken liberty from the books and therefore, Andrea’s absence will probably need some explanation in the upcoming season.
