Netflix's Sweet Magnolias finally has a release date, as announced by the streaming platform. After ending Season 3 in July 2023, fans will finally see their beloved Magnolias back on screen on February 6, 2025.
While every character is expected to have their own journey on the show in Season 4, Season 3 ended with a particular twist for Heather Headley's Helen Decatur.
Being the No.1 Attorney in South Carolina, Helen is at the top of her career with amazing friends like Maddie and Dana. However, the one thing she doesn't seem to get in her life is a stable romantic relationship and her family, like her friends.
Season 3 saw her choosing childhood love Ryan over her new beau Erik, but he again broke her heart in the Season 3 finale and left town. While Helen is heartbroken once again, is romance finally on the cards for her and Erik?

Exploring Helen's on-off relationship with childhood love Ryan on Sweet Magnolias
Throughout Season 1, Helen had an on-and-off relationship with her childhood love, Ryan, but things were always tense between the two because Ryan wanted different things in life than Helen. After accomplishing most of the milestones one can achieve in her life, 40-something Helen wanted to start a family of her own in Sweet Magnolias Season 1.
However, Ryan did not want children and did not envision his life in Serenity, which eventually broke the couple apart for the umpteenth time. Following this breakup, Helen begins a relationship with Erik, but things get complicated when she discovers she is pregnant with Ryan's baby in Season 2.
Helen does not tell about their baby to Ryan, and she eventually suffers a miscarriage. However, Ryan returns in the Season 2 finale after realizing what he lost and proposes to Helen again.
While Helen's romance with Erik is healthy, she still has a long history and unresolved feelings for Ryan, and she accepts his proposal.
But things don't go well for her again, and Ryan's interest in their relationship and Serenity starts dwindling. He finally breaks Helen's heart again in the Season 3 finale and leaves her again, saying that he cannot envision a future in Serenity.
Is Sweet Magnolia Season 3's ending hopeful for Helen-Erik's relationship in Season 4?
Helen meets Erik in Sweet Magnolias Season 1. He is the sous chef at Dana's hotel and formed a friendship with Helen. While he is clearly attracted to her, she is still stuck on Ryan.
However, as time progressed and Helen broke up with Ryan, she started dating Erik. In Season 2, after her miscarriage, Erik is there to support her because he understands what losing feels like, as he also lost his wife and unborn baby.
Helen's relationship with Erik is a sharp contrast with Ryan's as the two seem to want the same things in life, and Erik provides her with stability, unlike Ryan.
However, she broke her heart in the Season 2 finale by accepting Ryan's proposal. While Erik tries his best to avoid Helen since she is now with Ryan, he also starts a relationship with the new character, Genevieve.
The season 3 finale saw Erik discovering that Helen has finally broken up with Ryan (once again), and it is clear that he has lingering feelings for her. Will he reunite with her, even after she chose Ryan over him? Is Helen ready to move on from Ryan with Erik in Season 4?
