As he tries to make his way through a stranger world, he chances upon an even stranger boy, Laurent.

Why is Laurent important in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?

Laurent is no ordinary boy as he plays a significant role in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. He is not just someone trying to make it through the apocalypse, rather he is believed to be a savior. A religious group, known as the Union of Hope, believes that Laurent is the Messiah who can bring humanity a brighter future.

Raised in a monastery, Laurent is shown as exceptionally intelligent and wise beyond his years. Laurent has many unique traits in him. Hence, this may go to tell us that the nuns at the Union of Hope don’t just see him as the savior because of his possible immunity.

Two main pieces of information about Laurent are revealed in the first episode. First, Isabelle tells Daryl that years ago, a prophecy was made by a Buddhist monk who said that Laurent would save humanity from the zombie outbreak.

Laurent also seems to have the ability to see the future. We know this because Isabelle shows Laurent's drawing of Daryl being washed up on the beach. He drew it even before it even happened. All of this makes Laurent a character with world-changing potential.

Is Laurent immune to walkers in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon?

The series' story so far doesn’t directly confirm Laurent's immunity but leaves several clues suggesting that it’s a possibility.

In a flashback to a time before the apocalypse in Isabelle’s life, we see her along with her sister, Lily, who is pregnant, flee Paris. But Lily gets bitten by a zombie and she turns into a walker.

When she delivers her baby as a walker, she gives birth to a normal healthy human baby. A walker giving birth to a human had never happened before. This makes the fans wonder if Laurent might have some sort of natural immunity to walkers.

However, whether Laurent is actually immune to the virus remains uncertain. It could be a red herring that intends to mislead both the characters in the series and the fans of the series.
