Anne Rice's fans were treated to a TV series adaptation of the Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy of books. His plans are first stalled by Carlotta taking an infant Rowan away from Deirdre. The necklace binding Lasher to Rowan is removed, rendering him powerless for a long time.

However, he re-enters adult Rowan's life when her adoptive mother Elena dies of cancer. He tries to control her with the help of his shapeshifting powers throughout Mayfair Witches Season 1 to take rebirth as the baby in her womb. However, the series also reveals that he is not just a demon who decided to arbitrarily target Rowan and her family. Lasher's history with the Mayfair Witches is important to the series.

"Transference", the sixth episode of Mayfair Witches season 1 drops the shocking twist on the viewers, revealing Lasher's connection with the Mayfair family. Back in the 17th century, Rowan's ancestor Suzanne survived a witch hunt because of Lasher's intervention, making her the Mayfair family's first witch. The reason behind his intervention is revealed to be his desire to fulfill the 13th witch prophecy.

This plot point makes Lasher from Mayfair Witches the most important character in this fictional universe. Without his intervention, it resulted in a bloodline of witches lasting centuries. He was the one who granted the Witches their power, however, it was out of his selfish desire to realize a prophecy that might change his entire existence.


Lasher's connection with the 13th witch in Mayfair Witches explained

The 13th witch prophecy is at the center of the Mayfair Witches lore, who is revealed to be Rowan. Her status as the 13th witch is the reason for Lasher's attempts to turn Rowan to the dark path throughout season 1. The season 1 finale "What Rough Beast" has him win as he successfully manipulates Rowan by convincing her that he is her only true ally and resource.

After he persuades her to allow him to kill her enemies, By the end of the season, Lasher's efforts have paid off. After bringing her to Suzanne's cottage and showing her full potential, Lasher successfully possesses Rowan's child, the mortal realm, setting up the conflict for Mayfair Witches season 2.
