Who does Kyle end up with in Sweet Magnolias? Details explored

All ten episodes of Sweet Magnolias Season 4 were released on Netflix on February 6, 2025. The series first debuted on May 19, 2020, and has been widely loved by the audience. Kyle Towsend, son of Maddie and Bill Townsend is an important character who had been unlucky in love for the first few seasons. However, by the end of Season 3, we find Kyle in a relationship with Lily Song.

After several hiccups, Kyle ends up with Lily Song in Sweet Magnolias Season 4.

Even though the story is mainly based on three female friends Maddie Towsend, Dana Sue Sullivan, and Helen Decatur, it also focuses on other auxiliary characters such as Kyle Towsend. Kyle Towsend (Logan Allen) is Maddie and Bill's younger son, Ty's brother, and thus the middle child of the Towsend family.

Meanwhile, Lily played by Artemis is introduced as a student of Serenity High School and is friends with Annie Sullivan, CeCe Matney, and Sophie Frazier. Kyle's love life has been full of ups and downs from Annie Sullivan to Nellie Lewis to finally finding his true match in Lily Song.

In Season 3 Episode 9, Kyle after his break up with Nellie gets a secret admirer. Later Lily admits that she likes Kyle and is his secret admirer. Later, the couple plans a date together. Lilly also kisses Kyle by the end of Sweet Magnolias Season 3 in front of their friends, making their relationship official.

Kyle and Lily in Sweet Magnolias Season 4

In Sweet Magnolias Season 4, Kyle and Lily go through a tough time in their relationship. Their bond faces new challenges as a new male friend takes up Kyle's time. Lily grows furious at Kyle for spending most of his time with his friends.

Kyle is a sensitive and emotional person who understands that he needs to give time to Lily. He plans a grand romantic gesture to make up for lost time with Lily. However, Lily expresses that she wants things to return to normal. Understanding Lily's feelings, Kyle arranges a local holiday event for them both.

In an interview with Showbiz Cheatsheet, Logan Allen who plays Kyle opened up about his character in Sweet Magnolias Season 4,

"In Season 4, there's a huge huge step forward with this character. He's not just a freshman in high school anymore. He's discovering who he is, finding himself. And on top of that, he's transitioning into a young adult. I think this season shows Kyle not only finding himself, but also trying to navigate those new responsibilities."

Why did Kyle and Nellie not end up together in Sweet Magnolias?

Even though Kyle Towsend is initially attracted to Annie Sullivan in Season 1. He soon finds out that Annie is much more interested in Ty, his brother. In Season 1 we also see Nellie has a crush on Kyle and they both spend the evening of the prom night together at her house. However, things turn ugly when Kyle unable to stop the fight between Ty and Jackson, takes Ty's car for a ride and ends up in a crash. Both Kyle and Nellie sustained injuries after the accident.

In Season 2 we finally see Kyle ask Nellie out on a date, however, Nellie's mother Mary Vaughn Lewis warns Nellie and asks her to not interact with him anymore. Mary Vaughan and Kyle's mother Maddie did not share a good relationship. Mary often caused trouble to the business of The Corner Spa which was owned by Maddie, Helen, and Dana with unmanageable parking rules. Heartbroken Nellie texts Kyle to meet her near the kissing tree where they share their first kiss.

Kyle was hopeful to take this relationship forward however Nellie starts dating someone else as her family moves to Castlerock. In an emotional scene, we see Nellie return the flower that Kyle gave her and wish him the best.
