Lauren Giddings was found dead on June 26, 2011. This was at her apartment near Mercer University. He was a former classmate of Lauren and a neighbor who entered Lauren's apartment at 4:30 a.m.

He used gloves and a mask to cover his face. In her bedroom, he killed Lauren by strangling her. The next day, he cut her body into pieces using a hacksaw. Most of her body parts were put into the dumpster, but he had left her torso in a nearby trash can.

The case turned from missing person to murder pretty fast. McDaniel had been acting like a worried friend, but when he watched a TV interview with this, it started to raise suspicions for him.

McDaniel was suspicious from the very start of his strange behavior. He seemed unnervingly calm and composed while giving interviews, even talking about the discovery of Lauren's remains.

McDaniel was charged with murder in August 2011. Important evidence was found by the police such as footage of his spying on Lauren, the stolen underwear, and the hacksaw he used.

Stephen McDaniel was born in 1985. Stephen was pursuing law at Mercer University, Georgia. His apartment complex is where Lauren Giddings resides, and here Stephen made some very dangerous choices by stalking his obsession - Lauren. This consisted of often spying on Lauren, as well as internet research that has sent off alarm bells ringing over the bad girl.

After being charged with murder, McDaniel first tried to appear in court pro se; however, he accepted a plea bargain in 2014 and pleaded guilty to the crime of felony murder.

This was done with a life sentence and without any form of parole. He would be eligible for parole in 2041; still, it is yet unclear whether he will ever be freed from prison.
