The popular series is based on George R. R. Martin's book series A Song of Ice and Fire, and it also takes place in a fantasy realm where noble families compete for the Iron Throne. The show also examines a queen in exile. This is mainly about the return and the dangers of the North.

Littlefinger assisted Olenna Tyrell in killing Joffrey and mainly to shield Margaery Tyrell from his brutality; they tainted his wine during his wedding. The truth eventually surfaced. As per the storyline, this was done despite Tyrion first being held accountable.

At first, Joffrey's uncle Tyrion Lannister is accused of his murder since he was the cupbearer. However, it is eventually revealed that Olenna Tyrell and Petyr Baelish (better known as Littlefinger) were responsible for the murder.

Olenna Tyrell eventually assassinated Joffrey, with the assistance of Littlefinger, and they poisoned his drink to put an end to his brutality and protect Margaery from a terrible marriage. His death in Game of Thrones became a watershed moment in the series, bringing significant changes to the tale.
