After its triumphant success, Apple TV+ renewed Bad Sisters for season 2, despite the initial plan to conclude the narrative with just one chapter that ended in 2022.
Created by Sharon Horgan, who's also playing one of the main figures, the plot revolves around the Garvey sisters as they become the prime suspects in the death of a man named John Paul aka JP.
The five Garvey sisters include Eva, Grace, Ursula, Bibi, and Becka, and they're directly linked to JP, as he was Grace's husband in Bad Sisters Season 1. After JP's death, the sisters give it all to protect each other as they face constant challenges.
In season 1, viewers are offered glimpses of how JP physically, mentally, and emotionally abused his wife Grace Garvey. The siblings even crafted scary and silly plans to kill him including burning down his cabin.
However, every time the Garvey clusters initiated their plan, JP always made it out alive until Grace herself suffocated him to death. Read more to explore why the Garveys wanted to kill Grace's husband.
What did John Paul do in Bad Sisters Season 1? Reasons why the Garveys hated him
As previously mentioned, John Paul was a villain in the Garvey sisters' lives. Not only did he abuse his own wife Grace, but also caused trouble in others' lives, especially Eva and Bibi.
Before JP was found dead, Grace's sisters tried killing him through poisoning, shooting with an arrow, setting fire to his cabin, and even drowning but nothing worked out.
The five sisters were incredibly worried about Grace as she regularly faced the violent nature of her husband. In Bad Sisters Season 1, JP constantly manipulates Grace and makes her feel inferior in the family. He would use the death of their cat to emotionally harm Grace and inject fear into her heart.
JP’s cruelty extended to raping Eva, the eldest Garvey sister, and sabotaging her career years before marrying Grace. He also blackmailed Ursula and caused Bibi to lose one of her eyes due to his reckless driving. These reasons were enough for the Garvey sisters to eliminate JP from their lives, as he never changed or loved Grace.

What drove Grace to finally kill her husband John Paul in Bad Sisters
Since JP had injected fear and inferiority into Grace, she often failed to take a stand for herself. But when she discovered the truth about Eva's rapist and her miscarriage, Grace couldn't stop herself from sending JP to his grave in Bad Sisters.
Grace suffocated JP using his pajamas after he revealed being the one who raped Eva Garvey, Grace's elder sister and the leader of the Garvey siblings. Grace then got inspired by a film about Isadora Duncan’s death by asphyxiation and made JP's death look like an accident.
In Bad Sisters Season 1, Grace placed JP's dead body on a quadbike, wrapped a long scarf along his neck just like she saw in the film, and led his bike to crash into a tree. However, Grace wasn't the only one in framing the accident. She received help from her former neighbor Roger, whom JP previously troubled.
Grace finally revealed killing her husband to the other Garveys but didn't mention Roger's involvement. Now in Bad Sisters Season 2, viewers can see Grace being happy and having found a new love interest.
