Adoration is Netflix's newest teen crime drama based on the classic whodunit. When a teenage girl, Elena, goes missing, nobody suspects that she will be found dead because everyone believes that Elena is a rebellious girl because of her character at school. They thought she ran away to avoid punishment at school.
Meanwhile, in Adoration, Chiara's investigation pointed toward Giorgio, who was revealed to be Elena's secret lover.
But the final episode of the show resurfaces new footage that reveals that it was Elena's boyfriend, Enrico, who killed the poor girl and pretended to look for his missing girlfriend with her best friend, Vanessa.
What breakthrough clue did Vanessa find in the last episode of Adoration that solved Elena's murder mystery?
After her best friend Elena went missing just before the night of her birthday, Vanessa was sure that she had been murdered. She was devastated because of her friend's death because she was, in fact, in love with her, as her boyfriend Gianmarco realizes in the finale.
Vanessa also realizes her sexuality while uncovering her friend's killer. For the majority of the show, the killer is suspected to be Giorgio, who was Elena's secret lover and also the last person who saw her alive.
Elena was supposed to meet him secretly after her actual boyfriend, Enrico, was busy 'studying.'
While looking through old videos and photos of Elena, Vanessa realizes bruising on her body, which will only appear after she meets with her boyfriend, Enrico.
Vanessa then also recalled that Elena would come with fresh bruises on her arms after meeting Enrico, which could only mean that he was abusive and had anger issues.
Who killed Elena in Adoration? Exploring her boyfriend's motives in the teen crime show
After Enrico's mother finds his speeding ticket on the night of Elena's death, it is revealed that he used a different road and was lying to everybody. Enrico had anger issues, and he knew about Elena having a secret affair with Giorgio.
An angry Enrico stalked her when she was to meet Giorgio and, in a fit of rage, strangled her to death. Moreover, his father was in on this crime all throughout.
As we learn that Enrico killed Elena, his true motives are all revealed. He pretends to be a good lad while preparing for his legal examinations, and no one doubted him—except for Vanessa and Chiara, who were able to spot his violent behavior.
Like many teen boys, Enrico had issues controlling his anger, which surpassed its limits when he came to know about his girlfriend's secret affair. In addition, he felt no remorse for killing Elena because he thought that she was 'loose' and deserved to die.
Enrico also believed his mother would save him like his father, but that was not the case. His mother hands the speeding ticket to Chiara and reveals that his son killed Elena that night and was lying to everybody from the start.
She also reveals that he was not studying for his exams in the Cassino as he had dropped out of law, and instead stalked Elena and killed her. Police finally arrest him for his girlfriend's murder.
