The Snow Girl finale finally revealed that Amaya was alive after nine years and was abducted by Iris Molina, Amaya's mother's patient. She also used to send Amaya's videotapes to her biological parents regularly.

Iris was once a patient of Amaya's mother, Ana, who was a fertility doctor. As told by Ana, Iris could not have children of her own, and she was mentally affected by this so much that she decided to kidnap a child and keep her for her own. And Ana's 5-year-old daughter was her easiest target.

As shown in The Snow Girl finale, she is also on Malaga's Most Wanted list, because of which she took Amaya to the snow-clad isolated hills and brainwashed her into thinking that she was her 'mother,' and the 5-year-old girl believed the reality fed by her.

In addition, Iris also made Amaya believe that everyone in the outside world is a threat to her to keep her from escaping. She even goes into hiding when Miren finds Iris in The Snow Girl finale because of this.

Was Miren able to save Amaya in The Snow Girl?

Miren finally hit the jackpot when she got her hands on the account books for the VHS repairman machine, which Iris used to send Amaya's parents regularly. Miren tracked her down through those videotapes.

After she did not find Amaya with Iris, she recognized the hairband she was wearing, which Amaya had also worn in a video. This confirmed that Iris was Amaya's captor, but Miren's presence at her property made her flee her house with her 'daughter.'

In The Snow Girl finale, Iris finally realizes that her game is up and Miren has found her secret, and she completely loses it. She drives her and Amaya off a cliff, claiming to the girl that nobody can separate them.

While Iris dies on the scene, Amaya manages to get out of the car, but she refuses to go with Miren and laments the death of the mother she has known for nine years. She even points a gun towards Miren, but emergency services save them.

Amaya is finally handed back to her birth parents after nine long years, but she does not recognize them and still laments the loss of her 'mother.' The show ends hinting that Amaya will finally start to accept her birth parents.
