Matthew Perry, who became a household name for playing the role of Chandler Bing in the popular TV series Friends, passed away on Oct. 28, 2023. His death came as a shock to fans and the entertainment world when it was reported his cause of death was due to acute effects of ketamine. It is an anesthetic drug in heavy use in many medical settings but gaining notoriety as a drug of abuse.

On the heels of this tragedy, Kenneth Iwamasa, Matthew Perry's live-in personal assistant, has landed himself in trouble for his alleged role in events that led to the untimely passing of the actor. Iwamasa started working for Perry in June 2022, having been in his orbit for some time, as per US Magazine. He is reported to have worked for the Perry's manager and producer, Doug Chapin.

The live-in personal assistant of Matthew Perry is now being linked to circumstances surrounding the tragic death of the actor on October 28, 2023. Kenneth Iwamasa has reportedly confessed to distributing ketamine which led to Perry's death. He acknowledged that he repeatedly injected Perry, who lacked any medical training, with the potent anesthetic ketamine, including on the day Perry passed away.

Iwamasa admitted that the actor had undergone over 20 ketamine infusions in the four days before his death. Ketamine is typically given only by qualified medical personnel due to its potential dangers. On the day of his death, Perry was found unconscious by Iwamasa after being in a hot tub, and despite calling 911, medics declared him dead at the location.

Iwamasa is one of five defendants charged in connection with Perry's death. He could reportedly be sentenced to 15 to 25 years in prison.

Kenneth Iwamasa, who was Matthew Perry's live-in personal assistant, is one of the five individuals charged with the actor's fatal ketamine overdose. Iwamasa has reportedly pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death, admitting to having injected Perry many times, including on the day he died.

The other defendants include:

  1. Dr. Salvador Plasencia: Dr. Plasencia, a licensed physician, is charged with distributing ketamine to Perry and faces seven counts of this offense, in addition to charges related to falsifying records following Perry's death. He is accused of working with Iwamasa to supply the drug to Perry.
  2. Dr. Mark Chavez: Another doctor implicated in the case, Chavez faces charges of conspiring to distribute ketamine. He allegedly supplied the drug to Plasencia, who subsequently gave it to Iwamasa for Matthew Perry's use.
  3. Erik Fleming: Fleming is charged with serious offenses related to the distribution of ketamine. He is accused of obtaining the drug from Jasveen Sangha, organizing its sales, and then delivering the proceeds to Sangha.
  4. Jasveen Sangha: Nicknamed the "Ketamine Queen," Sangha faces charges for conspiracy to distribute ketamine and for managing a location involved in drug activities. Authorities suspect she was a key figure in the unlawful distribution operation.
