Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Episode 6, Zero Friends Again, has an interesting revelation in store about KB, one of the four protagonists. The character, quiet and mysterious so far, has had a cybernetic implant on her head after an accident. The episode also explains why KB is adept at all things technical.

Of the four Star Wars: Skeleton Crew characters Wim, Fern, Neel, and KB, the last has seemed the most competent and technically proficient — amply demonstarted in Episode 5 when KB, Neel, and Jod have to confront the guards at Lanupa. A reason for her technical superiority could be because KB in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has a cybernetic implant on her head, which is connected to the visor that usually covers her eyes.

Who is KB on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?

We meet KB on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew in the first episode, just like the other protagonists. She is introduced alongside Fern, as the latter is speeding on a hoverbike on the planet of At Attin. They are best friends, a relationship that is put to the test in the sixth episode. Issues arise because KB feels that Fern doesn't understand her limitations as someone with special needs.

Her cybernetic malfunctions because of corrosion, paralysing her body with only her hands functioning. It is only after Wim replaces the corroded part with a new one created by discarded android parts that KB is back on her feet. While creating the replacement material, Wim rightly deduces that KB chose to come with him because she would've found Fern's way of climbing the mountain impossible.

KB reveals that the cybernetic on her head was implanted after an accident and, in this way, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has done impressively from the perspective of representation.

Why KB on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is a good representation

One of the earliest Star Wars characters with an implant is Lobot, first seen in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. In the 1980 classic, Lobot is introduced as Lando Calrissian's trusted confidant in Cloud City. Played by John Hollis in the film, Lobot became popular despite being a background character with very few minutes of screen time. However, KB on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew shows viewers the struggles someone with implants may face.

While fixing the implant, KB mentions an accident and it is implied that a part of her continues to wrestle with the after-effects of the incident. She reveals that she had no friends after the accident. The reality and back story of KB makes Episode 6 one of the best entries in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Fans now wait with eagerness to know what's in store for KB.
