Taylor Sheridan has moved on with his new show, Landman, after his critically acclaimed series Yellowstone, announced that season 5 would be its last. Leaving the cowboys of the Dutton Ranch, Sheridan brings a new universe of roughnecks to the oil business in West Texas.
Landman is co-created by Christian Wallace and based on a podcast, Boomtown, hosted by Wallace. It stars Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, John Hamm, Michelle Randolph, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, James Jordan and Mark Collie. Actress Kayla Wallace also joins Landman as Rebecca Falcone, an attorney for the oil company who is hired as a liability expert to find a fall guy for the explosion in episode 1.
The show follows the ambitious oil rigs of West Texas and the driving force of many roughnecks and billionaires as they attempt to take control of them. Landman premiered on November 17, 2024, and will have 10 episodes. The episodes are available to stream on Paramount+ with a subscription.
Kayla Wallace plays Rebecca in Landman
Sheridan is always known for creating strong female characters in his shows—cue Beth from Yellowstone. Wallace's Rebecca might just be another female character from Sheridan's Universe.
Rebecca is a liberal-coded attorney who seems out of place in rural Texas. After the explosion in episode 1, she is hired as a liability expert for the oil company.
Speaking of the explosion, the truck involved was the property of MTex, which Tommy failed to report stolen. And combined with its involvement in an explosion during a drug deal, things aren't good for Tommy.
Rebecca is here as a liability expert to find a fall man for this explosion, and he demands to visit the accident site with Tommy in season 2. Her conversation with the Landman highlights how misplaced she feels out here in rural Texas, where she is unaware of the oil business.
Only further episodes will tell how her character will shape for the better, but Wallace was very excited to join the team for Sheridan's next. She describes her character as,
“It’s a wild world where you need thick skin. Rebecca is a woman who has to confidently hold her own as a lawyer in a male-dominated field. Episode 4 really showcases her strength and power, and I’m excited for people to see it.”
She added,
“Everyone was so welcoming. You’ll see that genuine friendliness reflected in Landman.”

Kayla Wallace is a Canadian actress. Born in British Columbia, Wallace graduated from The Canadian College of Performing Arts. From a young age, she was keenly interested in the arts, such as theatre, singing, and dancing. Her first role was in Disney's Descendants (2015).
Since then, Wallace has appeared in many guest roles in shows like ABC's The Good Doctor (2017), NBC's Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist (2021), and Hallmark Channel's When Calls The Heart (2019- 2024).
