The Perfect Couple unravels the story of the Winburys - the most affluent family in Nantucket, their “perfect” facade, and a murder involving one of them. The Winburys have a lavish lifestyle that they subtly enjoy flaunting. In the face of a murder accusation, a wedding gone wrong, and an adversary, will they be able to safeguard their prestige? That can be explored in six episodes of the limited series streaming on Netflix.
After Benjamin or ‘Benji’s’ wedding to his fiance Amelia comes to a staggering halt when the body of her maid of honor Merrit is found, the Winburys’ lives are thrown into chaos. Everyone turns into a suspect and one such initial suspect is the secretive Isabel Nallet - who claims to know all the tea about the Winburys.
Isabel is considered one of Greer and Tag’s oldest friends. Although Isabel lives in the heart of France, she’s more than updated about the Winburys’ lives. Whether it's about a scandal, an affair, hush money, or their private affairs - she knows it all and is very smart about gathering information.
In The Perfect Couple, Isabel receives a gracious invite to attend the flamboyant wedding of Benji and Amelia. Although she looked forward to a soiree of socializing, champagne, and a good old wedding, she didn’t anticipate being caught up in a murder! Especially, after she was the last person to see Merrit alive - it was all eyes on her.
What happened to Isabel in The Perfect Couple?
Apart from Greer and Shooter Dival, Isabel became a primary suspect in Merritt’s murder investigation. Despite indications of her hand in Merritt’s death, she wasn’t the killer and had a fool-proof alibi ruling her out. She did see Merrit before she had her drink and stepped on the canoe, but didn’t spend another minute.
Turns out, Isabel was off to have a scandalous rendezvous with Thomas or ‘Tom’ at a hotel away from Summerland - surveillance footage revealed the same, eliminating her as a suspect. However, before the ordeal came to light, Tom attempted to pin accusations of stealing prescription medicines for a game of “prescription roulette,” on Isabel.
Afraid he’d face the consequences of stealing pills instead, he decides to throw Isabel under the bus. Tom claimed he allegedly stole for Isabel who wanted the pills to murder Merrit - an untrue ordeal. After a tumultuous interrogation and the aforementioned footage coming to light, she was a free woman.
Who plays Isabel in The Perfect Couple?
Isabelle Adjani plays the role of ‘Isabel Nallet’ in The Perfect Couple. Adjani is an accomplished actress and singer from French cinema. She has appeared in an array of work including the popular 2015 comedy-drama, Call My Agent. The series gained a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating of 97%.
Her noteworthy projects include French classics such as Possession (1981), Queen Margot (1942), and Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979). She is also an esteemed singer and has been pursuing her passion for singing since 1991. Whether or not Adjani would consider returning for more Hollywood projects, remains to be seen.
