Edward "Eddie" Munson, played by Joseph Quinn, was one of the major characters in the fourth season of the science fiction horror series Stranger Things. Eddie is known for his strange personality and his passion for music as a guitarist.
Stranger Things is an American television series developed by the Duffer Brothers for Netflix and produced by 21 Laps Entertainment and Monkey Massacre Productions. The sci-fi horror set in the 1980s follows a set of strange and paranormal activities in the town of Hawkins, Indiana when a portal to another realm called the Upside Down is unintentionally opened in the human experimentation lab near Hawkins. This resulted in several attacks, deaths, and disappearances of the townspeople. In the fourth season of the show, the Upside Down is revealed to be an evil realm unknowingly opened by Eleven while trying to stop Vecna, the ruler of the Upside Down.
Eddie’s character in Stranger Things
Eddie was a passionate metalhead who was well-versed in and loved to play Dungeons & Dragons with his friends. He was the Hellfire Club's leader. Eddie was so devoted to Dungeons & Dragons that he refused to cancel any campaigns.
Eddie was kind, compassionate, comforting, and humorous. Since he first started playing the guitar, Eddie has shown a fondness for music. Eddie used his decor and design to convey his passions. Initially, Eddie seemed to be as aggressive, demanding, and frightening. He was earnest about D&D and did not fit in with usual groups like the basketball team.
Eddie had a difficult upbringing and a weird personality, which probably contributed to his academic difficulties. He wasn't very brave when he declared his intention to "run like hell" out of Hawkins High by 1986, after graduating in both 1984 and 1985. During his final moments, he was shown to be a very courageous man as he sacrificed himself to protect his friends.
Eddie’s background in Stranger Things
Edward Munson was born between 1965 and 1968. Eddie's father, Alan "Al" Munson taught Eddie how to hotwire cars at an early age. His mother, Elizabeth, passed away from an unknown illness when Eddie was six years old. After Al was imprisoned, Eddie was adopted by Wayne Munson, his uncle. They lived at Wayne's trailer in Hawkins' Forest Hills Trailer Park.
Is Eddie alive in Stranger Things?
Eddie gave his life to assist Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) in repelling Vecna's (Jamie Campbell Bower) demons. He died in the arms of Dustin, having sustained severe injuries. Dustin had to leave his friend's body in the Upside Down to escape alive.
