Short made his debut appearance on the NBC show back in 1984-1985 as a member of the cast. What is the latest buzz about Saturday Night Live Season 50?
This year marks the 50th season anniversary of Saturday Night Live, and NBC is all set to make this an occasion for celebration. Following the end of the Thanksgiving break, the show returned with full rigor riding on two back-to-back episodes hosted by Chris Rock, and Paul Mescal. It also brought fan-favorite acts from the past such as Church Lady by Dana Carvey.
Appearing alongside Martin Short was Hozier as the musical guest for the evening. Hozier too is no stranger to the show as he had previously appeared as the musical guest back in a 2014 episode. As this episode marked the fifth time that Short found himself in the host's chair, it could be speculated that he would be honored with the highly coveted five-timers jacket from NBC, an honor that is bestowed on those who end up hosting the show five times.
Speaking in an interview about the episode, Short commented on his long-lasting bond with Saturday Night Live:
"It’s a big episode and it’s fun, and it’s New York and the holidays it’s the best place in the world, you know. Everything you do, you either make it a joyous occasion or you make it stressful, and I work in joy. It’s live television. Anything can happen."
How to watch Saturday Night Live as a member of the audience?
Watching the show from the comfort of your home is quite an experience. However, one can only guess the thrill and excitement of watching the show unfold before one's eyes live at the studio where the show is filmed in New York as a member of the studio audience. Each episode of the show is unique as it features a new host and a new set of live audiences.
The audience members are selected randomly from ticket requests sent by them through an email lottery. Every year around the beginning of August, NBC accepts ticket requests, one from each household, to enter into the email lottery. Following the lottery, the tickets are randomly distributed for the entire season and lucky winners receive two tickets to visit the studio.
