What happened in Vox Machina Season 3 Episode 9?
Season 3 is reaching its finale with just three episodes left to come out on Prime Video. Episode 9 titled Thordak's Throne was released yesterday October 17, featuring the biggest battle between Vox Machina and Thordak so far.
The episode begins with Thordak already attacking the frontline, while the groupmates debate over their next move. Frustrated Grog then comes up with a plan and decides to split into two teams with some helping the army while others set to destroy the dragon eggs.
Following the battle, Kash and Zahra join Vox Machina in battling against Thordak. With each of the misfits using their skills to fight against the foe, Pike also tries to use the plate against him.
As the battle intensifies, Kash meets his end at the hands of Thordak and Vax sees his spirit being taken away. The group then decides to take down Thordak by destroying his soul anchor, but it's not easy. Pike makes another attempt using the plate but fails after Keyleth's fire elemental form also doesn't work.
Meanwhile, Grog thinks before smashing the dragon eggs, but Scalana urges him to focus on the mission. He begins smashing the eggs with his eggs but witnesses that some of them hatched and added to the chaos during the battle. The cries of the young dragon reach Thordak, and the dragon rushes to crush the killers of his children.
However, Grog and Scanlan manage to escape but Scanlan sustains injuries. As the battle continues, Vox faces off against the dragon with Pike succeeding in turning his powers against him. The episode features the biggest twist as Raishan arrives when Thordak is dying and prefers betraying him. The reason behind her betrayal was Thordak's failure to fulfill the promise.
While Thordak succeeded in escaping Raishan, he couldn't escape Vax who delivered the final blow and killed the dragon. The battle did end but the group is seen mourning the losses. Meanwhile, Raishan escapes and takes away Thordak's body.
