Grey's Anatomy writer Elisabeth Finch was scandalized after the release of Anatomy of Lies, in which it emerged that she had lied to people about her personal life, including cancer and other health problems. Her ex-wife, Jennifer Beyer, was instrumental in uncovering these lies.
As shown in Anatomy of Lies, Finch had been in an Arizona psychiatric clinic with Jennifer Beyer. It was there that Jennifer Beyer had gone to recover from her PTSD, which she acquired after being constantly abused by her husband. Fich, too, mentioned she had PTSD, although it was later claimed that she had faked her diagnosis.
Although unaware of the truth, Elisabeth and Jeffifer married in 2020; it was Jennifer who first noticed that something wasn’t right.
Peacock's new docuseries, Anatomy of Lies, has a storyline convoluted as Grey's Anatomy, the show on which Elisabeth Finch worked while allegedly faking her illness. Her story is now the focus of the streamer's three-part docuseries, which delves into the allegations of abuse and trauma made by Finch during her rise through the writing ranks at Grey's.
Anatomy of Lies: Highlighting Jennifer Beyer’s backstory
In Topeka, Kansas, Jennifer, also known as Jenn, shared a home with her spouse, Brendan, and their five kids. She was married, had children, and appeared to have a secure future as a licensed nurse—all signs of the prosperous life everyone aspired to. However, Jenn's husband was subtly abusing her behind closed doors.
Brendan denied her claims of abuse, alleging that her post-partum depression was instigating the behavior. Even after his manipulative schemes and threats, Jennifer mustered the courage to acquire a restraining order against him and file for divorce. He never did, however, let her live in peace.
When Jennifer had a rough day driving with two of her kids on December 27, 2018, CPS took them away. Jennifer sought treatment for her PTSD from a psychologist in Arizona, determined to show everyone that she was a decent mother. She got to know a woman named Jo there, who turned out to be Elisabeth Finch, a writer for the popular television series "Grey's Anatomy."
Anatomy of Lies exposes the true story of Elisabeth Finch
The Peacock documentary series Anatomy of Lies delves into the life of Elisabeth Finch, a former writer for Grey's Anatomy who made up a diagnosis of cancer. Anatomy of Lies delves into how the lies were exposed and who was hurt. The show takes Evgenia Peretz's 2022 Vanity Fair article as an inspiration for the series.
Jennifer Beyer and Finch met at a PTSD treatment center. Beyer was a Kansas-born nurse going through a difficult divorce. During their stay in Arizona, the two developed a tight friendship that soon turned romantic. They finally decided to get married.
Elisabeth had told Jennifer that she had developed PTSD after tidying up after a friend who was killed in the 2018 Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue shooting. However, Beyer later discovered that she had been lied to. The story Elisabeth told her didn’t match up with her social media posts, as her pictures showed her partying somewhere else.
Finch had shown Jennifer a photo of herself with a bandage across the area where a chemotherapy port should have been, but Jennifer remembers Elisabeth having no scars. After this, Jennifer called Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy, as Elisabeth was fake victimizing herself and was using the show as a platform.
Beyer gives her justification for the action, stating:
“She needs to stop having the platform to continue to hurt people over and over again.”
If you too are a fan of Grey’s Anatomy, you must definitely not miss out on Anatomy of Lies now available to stream on Peacock.
