In the tenth episode of The Challenge All Stars: Rivals Season 5, titled "This is Why We're Rivals," the competition reached a fever pitch with only five pairs remaining and four spots available in the final. The episode, which aired Wednesday, April 2, delivered on its promise of intense drama as partnerships were put to the ultimate test.

Nany Gonzalez and Turbo, desperate to reclaim their lost star and secure a spot in the finals, found themselves facing elimination against the season's elimination powerhouses. Meanwhile, tensions exploded between Shane Landrum and Da'Vonne Rogers, culminating in a near-quit that threatened both their chances at the $300,000 prize.

The premise of this season of The Challenge brings together 26 All Stars with troubled histories who must overcome their differences to succeed – a formula that creates compelling television as rivalries intensify under pressure. But for one team, this episode marked the end of their journey.

What happened during the elimination in this episode of The Challenge All Stars: Rivals?

Following the loss of their star in the previous episode, Nany and Turbo adopted an unusual approach – actively campaigning to be thrown into elimination for a chance to win it back.

"Meanwhile, Nany is asking other teams to throw her and Turbo into elimination and give them a chance to win back their star," TJ explained during the episode.

While Nany worked the social game, Turbo remained philosophical about their predicament, observing from a distance and remarking to himself:

"Humans are snakes."

Their wish was granted when the house voted them into elimination, setting up a showdown with Adam and Steve.

The elimination challenge "Star Bluff" tested both mental and physical abilities. First, teams engaged in a poker-faced deception game, attempting to determine whether stars were hidden in boxes by reading their opponents' reactions.

The second phase required transferring yoga balls using unwieldy sticks, with advantages earned during the bluffing portion. Adam and Steve began with a crucial one-point lead.

Despite Nany and Turbo's determination and previous elimination successes in The Challenge, Adam and Steve secured their fifth elimination win of the season – an impressive accomplishment that cemented their reputation as elimination specialists.

What else happened in this episode of The Challenge All Stars: Rivals?

This episode of The Challenge kicked off with "Pressure Sandwich," a daily challenge that required partners to carry puzzle pieces through a forest obstacle course without dropping them. The task demanded precise communication and physical coordination from the rival pairs.

Frank Sweeney and Sam McGinn displayed remarkable teamwork, completing the course without dropping a single piece. Their flawless performance earned them safety and significant power in the game.

"By some miracle, Frank and Sam glide through this challenge with the least amount of friction," noted host TJ Lavin as the pair celebrated their victory.

Not all teams handled the pressure as gracefully. Shane's frustration boiled over into an explosive outburst directed at his partner, Da'Vonne, prompting Adam Larson to intervene.

"Talk to people with kindness! A little bit of human decency!" Adam shouted at Shane, defending Da'Vonne as she broke down in tears.

Shane's frustration boiled over after the daily challenge, calling Da’Vonne "one of the most stressful partners" and blaming her for always playing the victim. His anger escalated to the point where he threatened to quit entirely, an especially dramatic move given the season’s format. If he walked away, Da’Vonne would be eliminated too, taking her shot at the prize money with him.

After some time to cool off, Shane returned with tearful apologies, but Da’Vonne wasn’t about to let things slide so easily. She urged him to reflect on why he lashed out at people who were only trying to help. The two managed to reach an uneasy truce, just enough to keep pushing forward in the competition.

Meanwhile, Nany and Turbo became the ninth pair to exit The Challenge All Stars: Rivals. The loss hit hard for Nany, who once again saw her dreams of winning slip away—another heartbreaking near-miss in her long Challenge career.

In her exit interview, Nany showed remarkable sportsmanship, calling Turbo "the best partner ever" despite their loss – a testament to how their rivalry had transformed into respect through shared adversity.

With Nany and Turbo's elimination, four teams advance to the final: Frank and Sam, Adam and Steve, Da'Vonne and Shane, and Melissa and Nicole.

Next week's finale will determine which pair has most successfully overcome their differences to claim the $300,000 prize, proving that sometimes the greatest victories come from working with your greatest rival.

The Challenge airs Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on MTV.
