Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, often referred to as Dr. Now, was born in Tehran, Iran, and has established a prominent medical career in the United States. He gained widespread recognition through his role in the reality television series My 600-lb Life, where he shared his expertise in vascular and bariatric surgery.

With an impressive career spanning several decades, this experienced 80-year-old surgeon has built a reputation for helping obese individuals achieve their weight loss goals and improve their overall health.

As he makes another highly anticipated appearance in Lifetime's docuseries 6000 lb Diaries with Dr. Now, Dr. Now's extensive background and stern approach position him as an ideal mentor for the ten cast members seeking guidance on their weight loss journeys.

The first episode of the docuseries premiered on January 6, 2025, on Lifetime Channel and documented the story of 25-year-old Chelsey. Chelsey has been struggling with her emotional eating disorder and weight issues since she was 9.

She had ardently avoided visiting Dr. Now, but after experiencing enormous emotional and physical issues, she is here to change her story.

Dr. Now is a name worth committing to, and putting one's trust in him has paid off positively for the patients over the years. His educational journey began in Tehran, Iran, where he was born in 1944. Dr. Now completed his master's degree from Tehran before moving to America to continue his practice.

As of now, he practices at several local clinics along with being affiliated with Houston Obesity Surgery.

His dedication to his patients and his innovative surgical techniques have made him a beacon of hope for many who face the overwhelming challenges of living with extreme obesity.
