Dick Wolf's Chicago Med has seen many cast enter and exit in its ten-season run, and very few cast members are left, who joined the show when it debuted with Season 1 in 2015.
Brennan Brown's Dr. Sam Abrams is one such character who joined the show in the premiere and continues to be a recurring character.
Dr. Abrams is one of the most skilled neurosurgeons and the Head of Neurosurgery at Gaffney Medical Center. He was married twice on the show and has two children.
Brown has also appeared in Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, two other shows by Wolf Entertainment. His other work credits include Gossip Girl, Ugly Betty, Deadline, The Sinner, and Breaking Bad.

Exploring Dr. Sam Abrams' character on Chicago Med
Dr. Sam is the head of neurosurgery and was introduced at the premiere of the medical procedure. He is a no-nonsense doctor known for his sarcasm and abrasive attitude towards others. While these qualities make him difficult to be with, his patients and colleagues recognize his potential as a doctor.
One of his most iconic scenes from the show is from Season 5 when he operated on Will Halstead's father. Tragically, he is declared brain-dead, and he casually announces the news as "This vent could be put to better use," which is a classic Abrams line that was about to get him a solid beating from Jay Halstead.
He is a highly experienced doctor, and his juniors often ask for his help or opinion on many Chicago Med cases. In Season 9, he assisted Crockett Marcel in a difficult surgery, where a young boy's skull was internally decapitated, but Sam was able to re-attach it to his spine.
Dr. Abrams was once considered dead on Chicago Med
Dr. Abrams was once considered dead in Chicago Med Season 5. He was at a conference in Honolulu, and the flight he was taking home crashed, and many patients were brought to Gaffney for treatment.
One of the patients brought in was a male, and his face was unrecognizable from the burns. The staff at Gaffney assumed it was Abrams since he was also present on the flight. They immediately put him on life support, but his second wife, Michelle Abrams, asked them to take him off life support as he would not want his daughter to see him like that.
But since his wife was much younger and more beautiful than him, the staff assumed that he had married Abrams for money and wanted him dead. Suddenly, Dr. Abrams entered the hospital, revealing that he had decided to extend his stay in Hawaii and was not on the flight.
He also gave the doctors a hard time for assuming that his wife would do anything like that. Instead, he revealed that Michelle is a millionaire.
While it was shown that Abrams could not have more children on Chicago Med because of his vasectomy, Michelle found out that she was pregnant in Season 8. It turns out that Sam's vasectomy was reversed miraculously, and he had a son named Mason with Michelle.
He continues to be a recurring character on Chicago Med.
