Dawn Olivieri is an American actress who portrays the character of Sarah Atwood on Yellowstone. However, Yellowstone isn't the only show she has starred in, having also appeared as Claire Dutton in 1883, which is set in the same universe as Yellowstone. According to the fifth season of the show created by Taylor Sheridan, it was subsequently revealed that Sarah Atwood was the one who was responsible for the death of the Dutton family patriarch John Dutton.

She has frequently collaborated with series creator, Taylor Sheridan, for his other shows like 1883 and Lioness.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Olivieri spoke at length about her exit from the show, which she hinted was hastened by Kevin Costner's exit plan. She stated:
"I did know there was an exit strategy for him, but I don’t think I was supposed to go as soon as I did. I think that was going to happen [with John], but because we had to wrap this all up in lightning speed, I think it had to go down the way it went. I believe I was meant to go into the next season and continue on as a character. So I think because of the situation, everything got changed around. The storyline had to go full throttle to figure out how to tie up every end and move things along. I’m grateful. It’s a pretty monumental role that I think goes down in history in a way because of what happened and how it played out."

Although Dawn Olivieri was born and raised in Florida, she moved out of her home to attend University. Then, her parents relocated to Oklahoma, where they owned a ranch and followed a rural lifestyle. Olivieri relocated to Arkansas in 2022 after spending several busy years in Los Angeles.
She told The Hollywood Reporter:
"I was also really OK with the circumstances of my career not following my life dream, and I left, because my well-being mattered to me so much. What I wanted was animals, space and the forest. Los Angeles doesn’t have that, so I just went and got it."
