Culinary Class Wars is currently Netflix’s most-watched Non-English TV show for two weeks in a row. The series has surpassed four million views and continues to gain traction among food lovers globally.

Culinary Class Wars explores a fierce battle between two classes of chefs - The White Spoons and The Black Spoons. Known as the underdogs, the White Spoons have been crushing it in the kitchen.

The hit show features chefs from small businesses, Michelin stars, and pioneers who've been going neck-to-neck lately with the White Spoons dominating the battle.

However, the Black Spoons have more than what it takes to defeat the amateur White Spoons. The team includes esteemed chefs like Napoli Mafia, Celebrities Chef, Hidden Genius, and Comic Book Chef, and several others.

Each chef has established their career in the world of culinary excellence. While each one creates masterpieces, the highlight of the show has been the Comic Book Chef, Cho Kwang-hyo.

Who is the Comic Book Chef from Culinary Class Wars?

Chef Cho Kwang-hyo a.k.a. Comic Book Chef is one of Culinary Class Wars star chefs, who has been in the spotlight since day 1!

Despite not going to culinary school, Kwang-hyo exhibits panache on a plate inspired by Korean Manga or comics. While these dishes are inspired by (sometimes) fictional food, Kwang-Hyo understands how to bring it alive.

The connoisseur of innovative comically-inspired Korean food has put out some bombshell dishes thus far in the competition and is certainly a threat for the White Spoons, who’ve been killing it in on Culinary Class Wars.

Kwang-hyo is obsessed with food and actively posts pictures of his newest creations on Instagram and his other socials. From humble and hearty spreads to dishes that redefine the whole fine-dining experience, his food is full of diverse, authentic and innovative Korean cuisines.

What did the Comic Book Chef do before Culinary Class Wars?

When he’s not giving the White Spoons a run for their money on Culinary Class Wars, Chef Kwang-hyo is the head chef and owner of Cho Kwang 101 and Cho Kwang 201, both located in the Songpa District, Seoul. Thus far, his eateries have gained immense popularity with foodies gushing about them online.

The highlights of his eateries include two varieties of hot pot: the classic hot pot known as Malatang and a stir-fried hot pot - Mala Xiangguo. Other dishes include Mapo Tofu - a sublime blend of tofu braised and glazed with a decadent and flavorful sauce bursting with spice. Lastly, his pork belly dish Dong po ru, and chicken dish known as Lazji steal the show with crowds every single time!

As reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, Kwang-hyo prefers to think of his recently opened restaurant Cho Kwang 101 as a “research center,” which would make him a scientist eager to make discoveries. The menu features the aforementioned classics but also changes their specials for the day: Dumpling of the Day or Dish of the Day.

In addition to it being a hip joint, Kwang-hyo allows visitors to get a wholesome bowl of ramen cooked by the chef himself if they bring a packet of instant ramen. The dish is charged less than $2.
