Cameron Crovetti’s role in The Boys
Cameron Crovetti was cast as Ryan Butcher in The Boys in 2020. After playing a recurring role in seasons 2 and 3, he was promoted to series regular in season 4. Ryan is the son of Homelander and Billy’s wife Becca, born after the former assaulted the latter.
Ryan starts as a kind, polite, and curious boy. He is raised by his mother and grows up in isolation, making him scared of crowds. He has superpowers like his biological father but does not like to use them.
The kid loves learning, making Lego animations, and spending time with his mom. However, everything changes when he accidentally kills Becca with his heat vision during a fight with Stormfront.
After Becca’s death, Ryan feels guilty and scared of his powers. He also starts having nightmares. Meanwhile, he finds a father figure in Billy and grows close to him. However, Billy later starts avoiding him to keep him away from all the mess.
Homelander steps in and takes advantage of his sadness and fear. He begins to shape Ryan into a mini-version of himself.
Initially, Ryan feels bad when he accidentally kills people using his heat vision; however, the guilt slowly fades away. He begins to encourage violence, which makes Homelander proud. Things take an even darker turn when Ryan accidentally kills his guardian, Grace Mallory.
However, unlike before, he does not feel bad about it. By the end of The Boys season 4, Ryan becomes more and more like his father, which leaves Billy worried.
The Boys seasons 1 to 4 are streaming on Prime Video.
