Paramount+ recently dropped a docu-series, Sin City Gigolos, that follows Ash Armand, aka Akshaya Kubiak, a notable cast member of the showtime reality series, Gigolos. He was arrested in July 2020 in Los Angeles for beating his girlfriend to death under the influence of narcotics. According to reports after the incident, he called 911 for help when he found Harleen lying unconscious and unresponsive. On arriving at the crime scene, the officers found the 29-year-old woman, Herleen Dulai, suffering fatal injuries, and before any medical administration would have been possible, she lost her breath.
Sin City Gigolos: A Murder in LA is another docu-series that premiered on March 4, 2025, directed by Barbara Shearer, and depicts the story of Ash Armand.
Let's dive in to know more about Ash and the new docu-series, Sin City Gigolos.
Sin City Gigolos: Who is Ash Armand, and where is he now?

Ash was a renowned actor in the 2011 drama show, Gigolos, where he was among the five male escorts in LA. He was part of the show for three seasons (Season 3 to Season 6) and very quickly became a popular cast member. In addition to this, Ash was also a fitness expert, and that is how he met Harleen Dulai. He had many romantic relationships, and Dulai was one of them.

Herleen had just finished her studies and was finding passion in fitness, where she met Ash. On the day of the incident, July 15, they both consumed psychedelic mushrooms together when things turned haywire. Harleen dies of blunt forced trauma, an injury caused when one is attacked forcefully with a blunt object, and strangulation, as per the autopsy reports. However, Armand doesn't remember beating her. He confessed to the police and was sentenced to imprisonment as per the investigation shown in Sin City Gigolos.
What to expect from the Sin City Gigolos?
The docu-series explores Ash Armand as a person, from his upbringing and childhood to his current relationships. The film features interviews with his family, friends, other love interests, and other cast members of Gigolos. Barbara agreed in an interview that she had never heard about the reality show or about him or the case. It was new information that helped her not to assume or have any prior biases. What she explored during the filming and interviewing process is revealed in Sin City Gigolos.
The producers of the reality show also came on board for interviews:
"We always thought one of them would do something stupid, but we never thought one of them could be a murderer," said the producers as shown in the trailer.
Answering about her takeaway from the entire story, the director told TV Insider that Ash had been brought up in a very unconventional household:
"It was a very unconventional upbringing. There is no question. Very open s*xually, which is unconventional in terms of s*xuality. And I don’t mean that in a bad way. I’m surmising why it wasn’t a big leap to go into being a s*x worker. The way Ash saw it was quite different than how some people see it."
The show also features Ash Armand's interviews over a phone call, where he reveals his side of the story.
