Who is Adam in Daredevil: Born Again? Theories explored 

Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ debuted its Season 1 on March 4, 2025, reviving Netflix's Daredevil.

The latest installment picks Matt Murdock/Daredevil's story after the events of Daredevil Season 3, and the premiere episode, Heaven's Half Hour, was an intense one. Along with Murdock, Kingpin/Wilson Fisk was back, too, stronger than ever and with his mind set on being New York's new mayor. Fisk eventually manages to come to power in the premiere.

Fisk's marriage with Vanessa has been strained, and the tensions have grown with the advent of a mysterious man named Adam from Vanessa's past.

From their conversation in the premiere, it can be assumed that Adam was Vanessa's lover, with whom she had an extra-marital affair in Fisk's absence. But the show has yet to clear the mystery around this new character.

Could Adam the reason for the Fisk-Vanessa marriage being strained in Daredevil: Born Again?

Wilson Fisk wins the polls to become the New York mayor in the Daredevil: Born Again premiere, but things are not great in his marriage with Vanessa. He emerges victorious in mayoral elections but his wife doesn't seem too happy, because of the effect it might have on her career.

Throughout Fisk's absence before the events of Born Again, Vanessa managed his underground criminal operations taking over her husband's place as New York's Kingpin. With Fisk back in the scene, tensions is sure to rise between the couple owing to power dynamics.

To add tensions to the growing power struggles of the couple, their rooftop conversation in the premiere hinted that Vanessa might have gone out of her way to deal with loneliness caused by her husband's absence.

Fisk reveals that he knows about Adam, to which his wife urges him not to kill him. Kingpin promises that he will not kill Adam because he is a changed man, but Vanessa knows of her husband's vengeful nature.

Their conversation does not explicitly mention who Adam is, but it implies that he is the man with whom Vanessa had an affair during Fisk's absence.

Adam's presence might affect the Fisk-Vanessa marriage in Daredevil: Born Again

While the couple is visibly going through a rough patch in their marriage, mentioning the mystery man from Vanessa's past did not help. The couple was eventually seen attending a therapy session with Heather in the final moment of Episode 2 in Daredevil: Born Again.

While the couple is clearly trying to mend the marriage, it might not work if Vanessa's blast from the past, Adam, returns. Kingpin has promised her not to kill him for now, but his history suggests otherwise, and certainly does not bode well for Adam.

Whether Adam will actually appear in the show is not confirmed for now, but if it happens, it will be interesting to see the man from Vanessa's past and how his presence will affect her marriage with Fisk.

In an interview with Business Insider, actress Ayelet Zurer, who plays Vanessa, talks about the Fisk couple's relationship in the show:

"Things changed in their relationship. We come in after a gap of time where they also haven't been together, I won't say too much about that. But when they return, they are the very strange lovers that they are."

She added:

''[They will] start from mistrust and go back to trust, which is their core essence."
