White Collar is one of the many fondly memorable legal dramas beloved by fans to date. The series ran between 2009 and 2014 on USA Network and is currently streaming on Netflix. The plot revolves around the story of an uptight FBI agent and his felon-turned-agent partner who jointly solve complex and mind-bending crimes.
The series has 6 Seasons with an episode count of 6-13, each lasting nearly an hour. White Collar will leave you at the edge of your seat throughout, and its 100% rating by Rotten Tomatoes for season 6 cements claims of a binge-worthy series.
Since the show ended, fans have been eagerly waiting for a spin-off - they got their wish earlier this year in June. Showrunner Jeff Eastin confirmed the news of a reboot of White Collar to be in the works per UPI, thrilling fans galore!
What is the reboot title of White Collar?
Eastin took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the title of the White Collar reboot, White Collar: Renaissance. The executive producer shared a snap of the newly renamed series and the name of the pilot episode, Masquerade. Eastin wrote,
“Can report the studio is very happy with the new White Collar script. For those asking if I have a title…”
Speaking to Variety earlier this year, Eastin and Tim DeKay (who plays Peter Burke on the show) dished a little about the scrip for the upcoming reboot, saying,
“It’s a fantastic script and it answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show.”
Furthermore, the star mentioned it would be an alleged perfect “introduction” for viewers who’ve never seen the show before its reboot. In DeKay’s words, it’s both an introduction and continuation of the aftermath from season 6 of White Collar.
What will the White Collar reboot be about?
Exact details about the plot are being kept on the low until further notice. However, per the showrunners, White Collar Renaissance will pay homage to Willie Garson’s character Mozzie from the OG show. Garson sadly passed away on September 21, 2021, after a long and brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
As mentioned earlier, the series will deal with the aftermath of season 6, which ended on several cliffhangers, including Neal Caffrey’s death, which he faked, as Mozzie insinuates in the finale.
Additionally, the reboot will focus on current events, with several original stars set to return. Although White Collar is currently streaming on Netflix, Eastin has hinted at the reboot airing on Hulu instead, although the same is yet to be confirmed.
Who will return to the White Collar reboot?
Another swell news for fans: OG cast members from White Collar are confirmed to return for the reboot! Protagonists Neal Caffrey (played by Matt Boomer) and Peter Burke (played by Tim DeKay) will reprise their roles in the reboot. Joining them is Tiffani Thiessen, who plays Elizabeth Burke.
Caffrey was once a felon with a dark and checkered past whose life turned for the better when he signed up for the FBI. His partner, Burke, is the polar opposite—an uptight law official who deeply respects and adheres to the rules.
Like her husband, Elizabeth is sharp and is often caught between Caffrey and her hubby’s banters. Confirmations about other cast members from the OG series potentially returning are yet to be made.
The White Collar reboot has yet to disclose details about a release date, complete cast list, plot, and where it will be available to binge. Until then, enjoy catching up on the OG show on Netflix!
