The Amazing Race season 37 has surprised viewers with multiple twists in the challenges as two teams competed to win the final grand prize in the newly released April 2, 2025, episode. A new double U-turn live vote led to Lori and Scott's elimination.
Each team had to place a vote and the two teams who received the top votes were not given a choice at the Detour and had to complete both of them within the time limit.
Lori and Scott felt upset at the vote results and were unsure as to why they were being viewed as a threat in the competition. The Amazing Race season 37, episode 5, titled It's Not Personal, It's Business was released exclusively on CBS on April 2, 2025. The episode synopsis states:
"Host Phil Keoghan shocks the teams when he announces a surprise where teams must cast their vote live, and the two teams with the most votes are required to complete both detours."
Scott and Lori were eliminated on The Amazing Race season 37, episode 5
On The Amazing Race season 37, episode 5, show host Phil revealed that each team had to cast a vote. This live vote was not linked to elimination or an advantage but would lead to a setback for the team that received the majority of the votes.
The two most-voted teams had to complete both Detours before moving to the next phase in their challenge.
Brett and Mark, Han and Holden, Melinda and Erika, and Nick and Mike voted for Scott and Lori. Meanwhile, Jonathan and Ana voted for Nick and Mike. Additionally, Pops and Jeff, Carson and Jack, Alyssa and Josiah, and Scott and Lori voted for Jonathan and Ana.
This meant Scott, Lori, Jonathan, and Ana were U-Turned.
Scott and Lori were surprised that they received the majority of the votes as they felt deceived by this decision. Lori questioned why they had to be the chosen ones as Mark tried to convince them that they were a major threat in the game. Scott got emotional, stating that everyone was against them.
Later on The Amazing Race episode, Lori and Scott had to complete both the Coral and Coconuts Detour challenge. For the coconuts detour, they had to deliver 60 coconuts to a beach cafe and for the corals challenge, they had to plant five coral species on the ocean floor.
Throughout the challenge, the couple struggled with the limited time as they had to finish two tasks. Towards the end of the competition, it was revealed that Lori and Scott were to be sent home as they were the last team to reach the Pit Spot.
Looking back on their journey on The Amazing Race the couple was proud of themselves and was looking forward to reuniting with their children.
