Teacup takes place on the remote farm of the Chenoweth family. When strange events begin to happen at the farm, the family’s young son starts to act weird after he wanders into the woods. The animals, too, feel restless with the eerie happenings.

A mysterious man in a homemade gas mask adds to the mystery by spray-painting a blue line on the ground. The neighbors on the farm, who had so far maintained a distance from each other, come together to face the unknown threat. The official plotline for the show reads:

“Teacup follows a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.”

The show is a television adaptation of Robert R. McCammon’s bestselling novel, Stinger. The acclaimed novel was released in 1988 and is still considered a timeless classic. Speaking about what drew him to the project, showrunner Ian McCulloch said in an interview with Den of Geek:

“That story of isolation and survival without being prepared, that was more interesting to me. The hardest part was the mythology. Sticking to very strict rules, you have to first create those rules, and then once you’ve created them, you either have to adhere to them or if you need to change them somewhere then you have to make sure everything else doesn’t fall down.”

The series features an impressive ensemble of Yvonne Strahovski as Maggie Chenoweth, Scott Speedman as James Chenoweth, Chaske Spencer as Ruben Shanley, Kathy Baker as Ellen Chenoweth, Boris McGiver as Donald Kelly, and Diany Rodriguez as Valeria Shanley.

The cast also includes Caleb Dolden as Arlo Chenoweth, Émilie Bierre as Meryl Chenoweth, Luciano Leroux as Nicholas Shanley, Rob Morgan as McNab, and Bill Heck as Lt. Olsen.
