Where was the School Spirits drama filmed? Primary location explored
Since School Spirits Season 2 came out, fans and viewers have been curious not only about what's next for Maddie in the upcoming episodes but also about how the production team ensured a compelling mix of the real world and the afterlife.
Since visual storytelling is a key part of supernatural TV series, many might wonder about the filming locations. Interestingly, all of Seasons 1 and 2 were filmed at an old property at Heather Street and 37th Avenue in Vancouver, Canada.
The building was vacant for a long time, so the production team modified it to look like a high school. The fictional town was created to align with the details mentioned in the graphic novel by Megan and Nate Trinrud and Maria Nguyen.
Vancouver is a popular filming hub with diverse landscapes and a well-developed production infrastructure. The best part? it can resemble multiple locations, whether a small-town high school or a supernatural realm.
The city has been a filming location for acclaimed TV shows and films including Riverdale: the hit TV series that's also about high-schoolers, fan-adored Deadpool, X-Files, and many more. Not only this, but British Columbia also provides financial benefits for production, making filming here cost-effective.

A sound stage was also used in filming School Spirits
While the vacant building was where the TV series was extensively shot, the production team also used a sound stage. This allowed them to craft classroom and hallway sets inside a controlled studio environment, which is again cost-effective for the team. The drama also includes supernatural elements that can be easily filmed through soundstage.
The filming for School Spirits Season 1 took almost three months, from August to November 2022, and the latest chapter followed a similar schedule and was filmed between June 17, 2024, and September 5, 2024.
