Hulu’s latest offering, Say Nothing, is a historical drama based on the 2018 book Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe and focuses on the turbulent period of 'The Troubles in Northern Ireland' that lasted from the late 1960s to 1998.

Say Nothing brings to life the real-life happenings of that period and follows the tragic and unfortunate abduction and murder of Jean McConville. The six part series premiered on November 14, 2024 with Michael Lennox as the director and Zetumer as the showrunner.

Filming at Shepton Mallet Prison, Somerset, England took place in August and September, 2023. This historic prison, that is located near Bath has a haunting look, which was needed for intense scenes in Say Nothing. These scenes specifically required an enclosed setting.

What is Say Nothing about?

Say Nothing brings on screen the true story of Ireland’s fight that happened to unite the nation. The show picks up 1960s in West Belfast as the violence between the IRA and the Protestant loyalists starts getting uglier.

The series focuses on certain key moments of the struggle, the origins of some of which could be traced back to a hundred years. This is done through the eyes of the key members of the IRA during the time, Dolours Price, a high-ranking volunteer (Lola Petticrew), Brendan Hughes, commanding officer (Anthony Boyle), Gerry Adams, the future president of the Irish political party Sinn Féin (Josh Finan). However, Adams, now 76 years old, has denied any kind of association with IRA.

Say Nothing can be streamed on Hulu.
