Since its premiere in 2018, Cobra Kai has been popular, both among the critics and viewers. The series is a continuation of Robert Mark Kamen’s Karate Kid films and combines elements of humor, drama, and martial arts.
Cobra Kai offers a fresh look at the Miyagi-verse story through Johnny, as he reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and reignites his rivalry with Daniel.
Major filming locations for Cobra Kai include Atlanta, Georgia and Los Angeles, California etc. Some parts of the third season were also filmed in Japan. With the show’s sixth and final season being announced, let us now explore the various filming locations of Cobra Kai.
Where is Cobra Kai filmed?
The Cobra Kai Dojo is in Atlanta
Though as per the show, the strip mall where Johnny opens his business is supposed to be in Los Angeles, it is actually in Atlanta. While the interior shots of the dojo were filmed on a soundstage, the exterior shots were taken at an Atlanta mall.
The Cobra Kai house
The LaRusso family home is a mansion situated at 130 Woodlawn Dr. NE in Marietta. However, in the show, it is Encino, a wealthy part of the town, where the house is located.
Moreover, as per the Reel to Real movie blog, the LaRusso Auto Group, featured in season 1, is located at 6740 Oakley Industrial Boulevard in Union City, home of the Atlanta Motors Superstore.
In Cobra Kai Season 2, the LaRusso North Hollywood branch was shot very close to the actual location, in the Butler Lexus of South Atlanta headquarters at 4025 Jonesboro Road, also in Union City.
All Valley Sports Arena
The All Valley Sports Arena was shot at The Matadome Gymnasium on the campus of California State University in Northridge (Los Angeles), as per the site Then and Now.
West Valley High School
West Valley High School, which is attended by Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), Hawk (Jacob Bertrand), and Samantha (Mary Mouser) is shot at C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center in Adamsville, Atlanta.
However, it should be noted that the merciless and huge fight that took place in the finale of the second season, was filmed at Atlanta Technical College.
The season one training sessions seemed to take place somewhere in Stone Mountain Park or in the beautiful Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.

Encino Oaks Country Club and The Oaks on The Beach Club
Johnny used to take his girlfriend Ali at the Encino Oaks Country Club in the Karate Kid movie, and it is seen to be frequented by the LaRussos on the show.
The filming location for this exclusive lodge was the Druid Hills Golf Club.
The Oaks on The Beach Club, featured in season 2, episode 4 was filmed at the Olde Towne Athletic Club in Marietta.

Here are a few other locations where Cobra Kai was shot:
- In season 2, episode 4, the beach scene featuring Robby (Tanner Buchanan), was shot at Tybee Island Pier.
- Episode 5 featured a shopping center, which was shot at the North DeKalb Mall in Decatur.
- In episode 6, Johnny is shown meeting his old friends at a bar in Big Bear Lake; however, that is actually the Ideal Sports Bar in Lakewood Heights (Atlanta).
- The Cascade Family Skating in Adamsville was featured in the 80's night at the skating rink in episode 8.
- In the first episode of season 4, shots of Terry Silver's house were filmed in Malibu.
- The second episode of season 4, featured a hockey game at Winnetka Ice Arena, which was shot at Atlanta IceForum in Duluth.
- The new Cobra Kai dojo featured in season 5 was shot at Space Lab Tvsdesign gym in Adair Park. It is near the Blue Tower by the West End Marta Station in Atlanta.
- In season five, Terry Silver’s house is Brookhaven Balinese in Ashford Park, North Atlanta.
Cobra Kai Season 3 was partially shot in Japan
In Cobra Kai Season 3, Daniel Tomi visits a village in Okinawa, Miyagi’s hometown, which was featured in The Karate Kid Part II.
The twin skyscrapers of the Doyona International headquarters is actually the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
The white modern entrance hall featured in this season is the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
As shown in season 3, not the whole of Tomi Village is a shopping mall. The scene at the viewpoint was shot at Mutabaru Observatory Ogimi Village Park that overlooked Shioya Bay and the small Miyagi Island.
The screens featuring Tomi Village Green were shot in the interior courtyard of Kenny's Alley in Underground Atlanta.
In episode 7, where Sam and Daniel are on a boat, is the Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs.
Episode 9 features the Ventura Zoo, which is actually the Fernbank Science Center, a natural history museum located near Decatur.
Cobra Kai can be streamed on Netflix.
