The Night Agent Season 2, Netflix's espionage thriller, has topped the charts on the platform after mere days of its release.
Among the cast from Season 1, actors Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan reprised their characters of Peter and Rose, respectively, in the sophomore season. Actress Fola Evans-Akingbola was also announced to return in The Night Agent Season 2 as a Government agent, Chelsea, but we did not get to see her till the finale.
Chelsea was an important character in Season 1, and one of the few agents Peter could actually trust. While she was mentioned a few times in Season 2, she only appeared for some brief moments in the finale.
Chelsea was absent from Season 2 because it was revealed that she had taken up the Secret Service detail for Governor Richard Hagan, which hints that she might partner up with Peter in the show's next season.
More on Chelsea's character in The Night Agent in our story.
What was Chelsea's mission before The Night Agent Season 2?
Chelsea was an important character in Season 1, involved in the Secret Service detail for the Vice President's daughter, Maddie Redfield. After the bombing at the Metro Building and Maddie's kidnapping, Peter questions her about her involvement in the same.
It was later revealed that it was the Vice President who ordered the bombing to kill the current President, and he was willing to sacrifice his daughter for the cause. But Peter, Rose, and Chelsea were in time to stop the assassination, and Chelsea manages to save Maddie, who later testifies against her father.
Considering Chelsea was such an important character in Season 1, seeing her absent from The Night Agent Season 2 was surprising for fans.
The Night Agent Season 2 finale hints that Chelsea will be an important character in Season 3
While Chelsea was absent from The Night Agent Season 2, she appeared briefly in the sophomore chapter's finale and revealed that she has now become a part of the Secret Service detail for Governor Richard Hagan.
Since the finale moments saw Catherine offering Peter to be a mole to uncover Jacob Monroe's relationship with Hagan, Season 3 will likely follow the story of Jacob Monroe and his preferred presential candidate, Hagan.
In the finale, it was also revealed that Monroe blackmailed Peter to get a confidential file from the UN because it contained evidence about Patrick Knox's (Hagan's opponent in the presidential race) involvement in the Foxglove operation.
The file would make sure that Knox is out of the picture and Hagan wins the election, which would benefit Monroe, as Hagan is like a puppet to him.
This storyline suggests that Season 3 is likely to be about Peter trying to uncover Monroe's real intentions. Since Chelsea is directly placed with them, she might have an important role in Season 3.
After being absent from The Night Agent Season 2, Chelsea could partner up with Peter to uncover the dirty truths between Monroe and Hagan, as suggested by Catherine in the Season 2 finale.
