Netflix's latest Spanish thriller series, Caught, adapted from another Harlan Coben novel of the same name, debuted on March 26, 2025.
Led by a Spanish cast including Soledad Villamil, Alberto Ammann, Juan Minujín, and Matías Recalt, the thriller series follows investigative journalist Ema Garay as she solves the murder of a 16-year-old teenager in New Jersey.
The official synopsis of the miniseries reads as follows:
''A journalist specialises in exposing criminals who have previously evaded justice, but finds her loyalties torn by the prime suspect in a case.''
While the setting of Coben's story is New Jersey, the series was primarily shot in Argentina. Buenos Aires and Bariloche, two popular cities in the country, were used as filming locations for Caught. Principal photography for the thriller began in March 2024 and was wrapped up after a few months.
Directed by Miguel Cohan and Hernán Goldfrid, Caught is called Atrapados in Spanish.
Here are some filming locations for Caught.
Exploring filming locations of Netflix's Caught
Netflix's Caught is a perfect blend of a thriller that utilizes urban architecture with natural landscapes. To achieve this, the crew primarily shot in two major cities in Argentina, which provide different aesthetic visuals. The cities and some locations featured in the show are as follows:
1) San Carlos de Bariloche
Located in the foothills of the Patagonian Andes, Bariloche is the largest city in the Argentine province of Río Negro and was used to enhance the natural aesthetic of Caught.
One of the locations featured in this city is Agencia Nacional de Discapacidad (the National Disability Center). The location can be seen in Episode 1, where a group of boys is playing basketball inside the center.
Nahuel Huapi Lake, located on the southern shore and near the Chilean border, is another important location in the city that adds aesthetic visuals to the series. In Episode 1, a group of people can be seen kayaking, which takes place on Huapi Lake.
Elefante Bariloche, an unfinished space aimed at providing a physical area for meetings and debate, was also featured in Caught. In Episode 3, various cyclists and skateboarders can be seen performing stunts and tricks in the open space, and the graffiti on the walls of Elefante is hard to miss.
2) Buenos Aires
The capital and largest city of Argentina, Buenos Aires, is located southwest of the Río de la Plata. According to a 2024 ranking by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, Buenos Aires was classified as an Alpha-Global City, making it the perfect setting for the urban scenes in the thriller.
Teatro Colón, one of the world's best opera houses, is an important location in the city featured in Episode 4. Ema Garay can be seen entering the building to discuss her ongoing investigation with the building manager, who reveals his religious past.
A large exterior shot of the Benchich building, located on the northwest corner of Avenida Córdoba and Esmeralda, can also be seen in the thriller series. The Benchich building, a residential structure in the city, is starkly recognizable due to its volume and red towers.
Marriott Hotel, a 20th-century castle, and El Chalet are key locations in Buenos Aires featured in this Coben adaptation.
