The special was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios' Stage 24, popularly referred to as "The Friends Stage," in Burbank, California. This is the same location where Friends has been produced since its second season. The reunion's filming got underway in April 2021. There were two delays in the special's filming: one in March 2020 and another in August 2020. A live audience of "mostly union extras" watched the special's talk show and trivia game segments, which were hosted by James Corden.
