Alert: Missing Persons Unit, which recently premiered its Season 3, has been a strong procedural on Fox.

Debuting in January 2023, it follows the Missing Persons Unit (MPU) of the Philadelphia Police Department as they work on various cases. The show follows a case-of-the-week format for each episode.

The department is led by Jason Grant and Nikki Batista, ex-partners dealing with the fallout from their missing son and trying to find the truth about him. Actors Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez star as Jason and Nikki, respectively.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit was primarily shot in Greater Montreal, Quebec.

While Alert: Missing Persons Unit is primarily set in Philadelphia, it was entirely shot in the Greater Montreal area of Quebec, Canada. The show's makers wanted to give the setting a dangerous air, so they chose the streets of Philly to set their show in, but it was otherwise shot in Quebec.

The crew chose MELS studio, minutes from Downtown Montreal, as their filming location, and most of the filming took place inside the studio. A part of Quebecor Inc., MELS is a film studio equipped with 20 sound stages spread across an area ranging from 10,000 to 37,000 square feet in size. The studio itself is made on 225,000 square feet.

The studio is also a 20-minute drive to the airport, which made it easy for the crew to fly in and out according to their schedule.

While most interior shots were shot in MELS, the exterior shots were taken against the beautiful city of Montreal in southwestern Quebec. The city, the most populous in Quebec, has a rich history of art, culture, music, and literature, making it perfect as a filming location.

In addition to Alert: Missing Persons Unit, many more action series, such as Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and The Recruit, were also shot in Montreal, Quebec.

While Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 3 was not included in Fox's fall lineup, it finally debuted on the network on March 25, 2025. The show will continue airing weekly episodes every Tuesday on Fox.

In addition to most of the main cast, Season 3 has added two new faces in recurring roles. Malcolm-Jamal Warner will play the role of Chief Inspector Bill Houston. While he believes in rules and discipline, he will cooperate with the MPU's unorthodox approach to solving cases once he sees their capability.

Megalyn Echikunwoke will play Lt. Gabrielle Bennett, Jason's former trainee at Philly PD.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit will continue to bring harrowing cases in Season 3, with a new twist. The team will also have to find one of their own. The official description by Fox reads as follows:

“MPU is tasked with cases ranging from a missing female collegiate rowing team who disappeared while on the water, a missing street artist due to donate his rare bone marrow to save his dying brother and Nikki’s ongoing and dangerous association with Irish mob boss Charlie McGannon''

The network added:

''But the most harrowing case to date is when MPU must band together in a race to find one of their own. Now more than ever, together, the team must work to find the missing or abducted and help reunite them with their loved ones before it’s too late.”

The stakes for the new season are high. Catch Episode 2 on Fox on April 1, 2025.
