Outlander fans, the wait for the Season 7 finale is almost over! Episode 16, “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” will air on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 8:00 pm ET on Starz. If you prefer streaming, the episode will be available on the Starz app and Starz.com starting at midnight ET on the same day.

After a very dramatic second-to-last episode, Outlander fans are excited to find out what happens to Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and their family. The finale is expected to wrap up key storylines, such as Claire’s serious injury, Brianna’s dangerous trip through the stones, and the challenges of the Revolutionary War.

As Starz finishes this intense season, here’s a detailed look at what to expect in the upcoming episode and the season overall.

What to expect in the Outlander Season 7 finale episode “A Hundred Thousand Angels”?

The last episode of Outlander Season 7 will be full of drama and strong emotions. Called “A Hundred Thousand Angels,” the episode shows Dr. Denzell Hunter (played by Joey Phillips) doing everything he can to save Claire’s life after she gets shot during the Battle of Monmouth.

According to TVLine’s preview, Claire will survive, but their problems aren’t over. Jamie decides to leave the army to protect Claire, which might cause trouble with General George Washington. At the same time, the relationship between Jamie, Claire, and Lord John Grey (played by David Berry) gets more complicated.

Another key part of the episode is about William Ransom (played by Charles Vandervaart), who works with an unexpected partner to save Jane. This shows how William is maturing and making choices based on what he believes is right.

As the Revolutionary War still threatens the Frasers, the final episode is expected to be a “highly charged episode,” says Joey Phillips. The title suggests ideas of making up for past mistakes and staying strong, reflecting the challenges the characters have faced this season.

Brianna’s time-travel on Outlander makes us question if the family will reunite

Brianna (played by Sophie Skelton) and her kids face more suspense as they travel through the stones. In Episode 15, Mandy suddenly runs toward the stones, making Brianna and Jemmy follow her. This leads to an uncertain separation as they move through time.

In Diana Gabaldon’s books, the family meets up with Roger (played by Richard Rankin) in 1739. But will the show follow the books exactly? Fans think the finale might end with Brianna and Roger’s emotional reunion and set up their next adventure.

Alexandria Ingham from ClaireandJamie.com points out that the show often cuts smaller book plots to keep the story moving. So, expect a simpler but touching ending. If the finale stays true to the book, the family will decide to go back to 1778 to be with Claire and Jamie, bringing the Frasers together again.

Outlander Season 7 was split, but what’s next?

Outlander Season 7 started in the summer of 2023 and was divided into two parts. The first eight episodes dealt with the aftermath of Malva Christie’s death and the Frasers’ early role in the Revolutionary War. Part 2, which came back in November 2024, focused more on the war and how time travel affected the MacKenzie family.

With 16 episodes in total, the season covered a lot of ground. Starz has announced that Season 8, set to air in 2026, will be the last season of Outlander. But fans have something else to look forward to: the prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which tells the love story of Jamie’s parents.

As Sam Heughan mentioned in a recent interview, the final season will be “an emotional ride” that will leave fans excited for what’s next.

You can watch the final episode of Outlander Season 7 on Starz. You can use your cable TV, go to Starz.com, or use the Starz app starting January 17. If you use Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, or Philo, you can watch it with the Starz add-on.

Fans outside the U.S. might need to wait longer to see it on Netflix, as new seasons usually come to Netflix two years after they first air.
