The hit reality show Love After Lockup which follows the lives of engaged convicts and explores their love lives after their release from prison is getting a spin-off. The show premiered on WeTv in 2018 and is now getting a spin-off show called Love After Lockup: Crime Story. The first episode of the show premiered on Friday, February 7 at 8 p.m. on WeTV.

Love After Lockup: Crime Story Will Delve Deeper Into The Crimes Of Past Contestants Of The Franchise

Love After Lockup: Crime Story will have six episodes and will delve deeper into crimes committed by contestants of the “Love After Lockup” franchise. The show will also follow their love stories beyond prison.

Since Love After Lockup premiered in 2018, there have been two major spinoffs. In 2019, a documentary show titled “Life After Lockup” dropped on WeTV. It followed the lives of ex-offenders after their release from prison for a year and also showed the challenges they faced with their partners.

A second spin-off, “Love During Lockup,” was released in 2022. It explored the relationships convicts developed while in prison. In 2023, the show received a three-episode spin-off, “Love After Lockup: Innocent After Lockup,” which featured exonerees who spent a decade or two in a maximum-security penitentiary but were eventually proven innocent.

Last year, “Love After Lockup” emerged as the top-rated cable show among African American female viewers in the 25-to 54-year-old demographic. It was also reportedly listed among the Top 10 most-watched titles on AMC+. WeTV posted a synopsis of the show online.

The first storyline of Love After Lockup: Crime Story features Mississipi’s Lindsey and Florida’s Garrett who will share some surprising details about their lives before prison. Lindsey is a former drug dealer and also has a teenage daughter. The show will show Lindsey going back to the scene of a speedy chase where she will face an arresting officer, while Garrett will revisit his first home and talk about a theft in his family.
