Boarders Season 2 is the highly-anticipated next installment of the hit British teen comedy-drama. The BBC Three show follows five black teens from humble backgrounds who get a scholarship to attend a prestigious boarding school.
While they try to make the most of their time at the school, they are unaware that the scholarships have only been given to compensate for the school’s bad reputation. The show stars a talented ensemble including Josh Tedeku, Jodie Campbell, Myles Kamwendo, Aruna Jalloh, and Sekou Diaby.
The second season is only going to get bigger and better with the addition of stars like Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy. As audiences eagerly await the show’s return, BBC has announced that Boarders Season 2 will premiere in February 2025.
Boarders Season 2 arrives on BBC Three in February 2025
Boarders Season 2 will premiere on BBC Three in February 2025, a year after the first season, which debuted in February 2024. However, the exact release date has not been announced yet.
The show can also be watched on BBC iPlayer. The second season will feature six 45-minute-long episodes, which are expected to be released weekly. In North America and Latin America, the series will be available to stream on Tubi.
However, US viewers will have to wait a little as Tubi has not confirmed the release date or month of the show. British dramas usually premiere in the US a few weeks or months after their UK release.
Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy have joined Boarders season 2 as guest stars
Along with the release month, BBC also announced two new additions to Boarders season 2’s cast: Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy. Cumming is a multiple award-winning actor who is known for his role in the show The Good Wife and for hosting The Traitors.
In Boarders, he will star as Alan, who has set some high standards for the school students. Cassidy, famous for her performance as Sonia Fowler in EastEnders, will portray a teacher named Sharon Hail, who works at St Gilbert’s rival school.
The main cast members will be reprising their roles in the second season, including Josh Tedeku (Jaheim Marsham), Jodie Campbell (Leah Dulverton), Myles Kamwendo (Omar Palmer-Grace), Aruna Jalloh (Femi Adebayo), and Sekou Diaby (Toby Staithes).
Apart from Cumming and Cassidy, some other fresh faces will also be seen in Boarders Season 2. Loki star Wunmi Mosaku will play Grace, Jaheim’s mother; Supacell actor Michael Salami will play Teju, Femi’s uncle; newcomer Kendra Brown will star as Devon’ye, an American exchange student.
Additionally, Downton Abbey actress Cara Theobold will portray Jude, a writer in residence at the school. The returning cast also includes Harry Gilby (Rupert), Assa Kanouté (Abby), Niky Wardley (Carol Watlington-Geese), Rosie Graham (Florence), and Georgina Sadler (Mabel).
What will happen in Boarders Season 2?
The teens have a new challenge to face in the upcoming season as headmaster Bernard has been fired from the school. Carol Watlington-Geese serves as the new headmistress, who does not like the five teens and wants to end their scholarship. As per the official logline by BBC:
“Series one saw these five outsiders begin to thrive. Series two asks how much they’re willing to sacrifice just to survive.”
Boarders has been created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor. He also serves as a writer along with Yemi Oyefuwa, Racheal Ofori, and Jeffrey Aidoo. The series directors include Joelle Mae David and Sarmad Masud.
