The new season promises to be darker than before. It will center around the Dutton family's ongoing struggle to safeguard their property.

“A cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob and Cara back at Dutton Ranch. With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.”

The new season will put a bigger spotlight on Donald Whitfield, played by Timothy Dalton. He is the guy who wants to take over the Dutton ranch. He was a secondary enemy in the first season, but now he is the main bad guy, making everything harder for Jacob and Cara Dutton.

The new season some familiar faces coming back, while Harrison Ford plays Jacob Dutton and Helen Mirren is cast as Cara Dutton.

They are going to have their hands full with the new characters joining the show. For example, there is Jennifer Carpenter from Dexter who will play Mamie Fossett, a tough U.S. deputy marshal.
