Mike White’s The White Lotus is back with its third season, and fans can rejoice as the show finally has a confirmed release window. As per HBO, the third installment of this comedy-thriller will arrive in February 2025.
The White Lotus Season 2 ended on an over-the-top note as Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge) took a deadly plunge after Greg (Jon Gries), her husband with whom she had met during season 1, planned for her dispatch.
The White Lotus Season 3 is very likely to retain its theme of surprising twists and turns while providing an engaging storyline. It can also be expected for at least one of the fan-favorite characters to return to the resort in Thailand where season 3 is being set.
HBO CEO and Chairman Casey Bloys told Deadline last month,
“We are shooting the season, I have read the scripts, we’re happy, we’re moving ahead. I know the show gets a lot of attention now because it has created some genuine movie stars, and they have various projects that they’re working on. But we are shooting this season, so nothing has changed.”

When is The White Lotus Season 3 releasing?
As confirmed by HBO, The White Lotus Season 3 will be premiering in February 2025. However, no particular dates have been provided yet.
The 2023 writers and actors’ strikes caused the production delay for season 3. During an HBO and Max presentation on November 2, Bloys mentioned,
“probably would have been [released in] 2024 but now is pushing into 2025.”
The confirmed news of season 3’s release comes after a month of this comment.
Where is The White Lotus Season 3 set?
The White Lotus Season 3 has been set in Thailand. The previous two seasons of the show took place in resorts in Maui and Sicily. In the teaser that HBO released earlier this year for season 3, an unknown character was heard saying,
"What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand."
Season 3 production took place in and around Phuket, Koh Samui, and Bangkok. The EVP of Production, Janet Graham Borba, mentioned in a press statement,
"We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus.”
Shooting for the third season had begun in February 2024, as was confirmed by Max via an Instagram post.
What is The White Lotus Season 3 about?
While no official synopsis has been released for The White Lotus Season 3, Mike White has promised that fans can expect a “crazier” season of the show.
He told Entertainment Weekly,
“It's going to be longer, bigger, crazier. “I don't know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that's a good thing ... I'm super excited about the content of the season."
In another interview with Vanity Fair, White mentioned that this season will also explore the dichotomy between Eastern and Western religion and would perhaps have elements of spirituality. He further suggested,
“After [all of season two’s] sex, it would be nice to have something that’s a little more celestial or something that’s a little more out of the carnal.”
The first two seasons of The White Lotus can be streamed on Max.
