The New Republic is a mysterious time frame between the end of the original Star Wars trilogy and the rise of the First Order. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the New Republic Era, which is set five years after the Return of the Jedi. The events in this timeline occur between The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, the gaps between the trilogy.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set not long after the fall of the Empire. As the heroes of the Rebellion fight to reclaim the Core, pirates and bounty hunters wreak havoc in the Outer Rim. The story centers on a little-known planet called At Attin, where the people are trying to help with the "Great Work," presumably to rebuild the Republic.

However, much remains mysterious about the planet and its people, especially when our young heroes leave the Barrier that protects and hides them from the rest of the galaxy.

Why is Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s timeline important?

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s plot will focus on four children who make a surprising discovery on their home planet. Their discovery transports them to a strange and dangerous galaxy, where those who want power after the fall of the Empire are quick to seize the first opportunity. A sense of lawlessness and uncertainty pervades much of the Star Wars galaxy at this time.

During its two-episode premiere, viewers learn that the mysterious planet once was a place of legends, full of buried riches. With Wim using gold credits for his lunch money and most of the adults of At Attin having undefined jobs in finance, this myth seems to be true.

The fact that they are remnants of the Republic, the democracy of the prequels, does not make it easy to dismiss the idea. Skeleton Crew is set to bring out the truth about At Attin and its lost treasure, and the show will also link the events to both the past and the future.

Also, this series may allow the creators to connect the events of the series to those of the movies that are currently in production.

After its release, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be available for viewers to stream on Disney+.
