What happened before St. Denis Medical season 1 went on a break?
The first six episodes of St. Denis Medical season 1 introduce the audience to the world of the underfunded and understaffed Oregon hospital. The show begins with Alex, a supervising nurse, who handles a patient who has overdosed.
Meanwhile, Joyce, the hospital’s director, talks about her ambitious dream of turning St. Denis into a world-class hospital, but the lack of resources makes it difficult. The team then welcomes Matt, a new nurse with a religious background.
Dr. Ron is shown as an experienced doctor with a bad temper, Serena is a confident travel nurse, Val is a no-nonsense nurse administrator, and Dr. Bruce is a trauma surgeon always seeking admiration.
The dynamics between these eccentric characters and their different approach to handling patients lead to some funny and awkward moments. The staff later comes together for the holidays as a family.
Joyce asks Serena to help make a social media video to promote the hospital, which turns chaotic. Matt and Bruce deal with an emergency involving a man dressed as Santa and a stuck engagement ring, adding to the humor.
Meanwhile, Alex and Ron discover a patient who has been lying about having cancer to get attention from his family. Amid all the challenges, the team continues to work tirelessly to help the patients and each other.
St. Denis Medical season 1 stars Wendi McLendon-Covey as Joyce, Allison Tolman as Alex, Mekki Leeper as Matt, David Alan Grier as Ron, Kahyun Kim as Serena, Josh Lawson as Bruce, and Kaliko Kauahi as Val.
