The hotly awaited Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is officially on its way, and fans are itching to find out when it'll hit screens. According to Marvel Studios exec Brad Winderbaum, the target release window for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is sometime in 2026, as long as everything goes off without a hitch during production.
He told Screen Rant:
"That is the plan. Season 2 will come out next year, and then hopefully Season 3 and Season Infinity after that."
They plan to start shooting Season 2 in New York City around March 2025. It sounds like they're committed to making it true to the comics. We're getting the actors back, like Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher.
Everyone's excited for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2!
Daredevil: Born Again production schedule is unique
One of the most interesting things about Daredevil: Born Again is how it's being made. Unlike a lot of Disney+ series that have big gaps between seasons, this is being put together in a way that might let us see new episodes sooner.
As one Reddit user, SacreFor3, pointed out,
"Apparently they already have plans for S3, so I'd imagine they'll start work on scripts for it before S2 finishes."
Taking initiative here is similar to how successful TV shows are made, like Apple TV+'s Slow Horses. They've been able to put out several seasons close together by keeping their scripts and filming process efficient. Marvel realizes it's important to keep Daredevil connected to the streets of New York.
Winderbaum noted this during his interview with Screen Rant, saying,
"I think this world is extremely rich, and there are many stories to be told on the streets of New York... The fact that we're able to shoot here and tell a story about New York made by New Yorkers is just fundamental to the series."
The show's dedication to keeping it real is a major reason for its unusual scheduling, steering clear of the heavy CGI common in other Marvel movies.
What’s next for Daredevil and the Defenders?
The comeback of Daredevil has sparked fresh buzz about the possible return of other Marvel heroes from the Netflix days. Since Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page, and Elden Henson, who portrays Foggy Nelson, are back, fans are crossing their fingers that Daredevil: Born Again might bring back Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
The Daredevil: Born Again showrunner, Dario Scardapane, has already made it clear how crucial it was to have Karen and Foggy in the story.
He said:
"You can’t do this show without Karen and Foggy. They’re Matt’s family. They’re the heart of his world."
There's also buzz that Tony Dalton is returning as Jack Duquesne, a.k.a. The Swordsman, a character he first played in Hawkeye. This could lead to even more characters popping up across different shows, especially since Kingpin is becoming a bigger deal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Over on Reddit, fans are already dreaming up possible plots. One idea is that Luke Cage could become a major player, maybe even running for mayor against Fisk, with Jessica Jones dropping in for a guest spot or two. This actually matches up with storylines from the comics and could pave the way for more of Marvel's street-level heroes to show up in the wider MCU.
With Season 1 hitting Disney+ on March 4, 2025, and work on Season 2 starting soon after, we won't have to wait too long to see Matt Murdock again.
Daredevil: Born Again will be a Disney+ exclusive.
