When Life Gives You Tangerines is set to feature 16 episodes, which have been divided into four batches. Each batch represents a different season and comprises four episodes. The series began on March 7, 2025, with the Spring Episodes and will release batches of summer, autumn, and winter on subsequent Fridays.

What is When Life Gives You Tangerines about?
The show tells the story of Ae-sun, a woman born in the 1950s on the South Korean island of Jeju. She falls in love with Gwan-sik. As the two go on with their lives, they face various challenges and issues but always try to make something positive out of the hardships.
Meanwhile, the series also focuses on Ae-sun’s relationships with her mother and her daughter, as it demonstrates how she fits into different roles as her life progresses. The official synopsis for the show reads:
“When Life Gives You Tangerines chronicles the adventures of Ae-sun, “the remarkable rebel,” and Gwan-sik, whose nickname means “unyielding iron,” in Jeju Island, including Gwan-sik’s long-standing crush on Ae-sun since they were young.”
“The series’ Korean title pays homage to the Jeju dialect, translating to “thank you for your hard work,” lending cultural authenticity to the narrative.”
The series stars K-pop star IU in the dual role of Ae-soon and her daughter Yang Geum-myeong. Actor Park Bo-gum stars as Gwan-sik. The older version of Ae-soon is played by Moon So-ri, and the older Gwan-sik is portrayed by Park Hae-joon.
The rest of the cast includes Kim Yong-rim as Gwan-sik's grandmother, Park Mak-cheon; Yeom Hye-ran as Ae-soon's mother, Jeon Gwang-rye; Oh Min-ae as Gwan-sik's mother, Kwon Gye-ok; and Na Moon-hee as Ae-soon's grandmother, Kim Chun-ok.
The show also features Choi Dae-hoon as Sang-gil, Baek Ji-won as Kyung-ja, Jang Hye-jin as Yeong-ran, Cha Mi-kyung as Chung-su, Oh Jung-se as Yeom Byeong-cheol, and Uhm Ji-won as Na Min-ok.
