Conan O'Brien Must Go is all set to drop its upcoming second season on May 8. Max recently released a trailer for Conan O'Brien Must Go season two, and the late-night talk show host and podcaster seemingly anticipates another entertaining reprisal of his rather stupid persona as he travels far and wide. It is a testament to the popularity of the show that prior to the release of its second season, Conan O'Brien Must Go has already been greenlit for a third installment.
Here's everything that we know.
What's the latest buzz about Conan O'Brien Must Go season 2?
The second season of Conan O'Brien Must Go will feature O'Brien visiting Spain, New Zealand, and Australia. He will once again don the hat of being a wacky American tourist who goes on a spree exploring the local culture and cuisine of the places he visits. The first season of the show was an instant hit, and saw O'Brien moving through Nowary, Argentina, Thailand, and Ireland.
As per the Executive Vice-President of HBO Programming, Nina Rosenstein:
"Working with Conan and his team on ‘Conan O’Brien Must Go’ is the trip of a lifetime, They’re annoyingly brilliant and no one can make locals feel as deeply uncomfortable in their own country as Conan can……this season in lederhosen.”
Jordan Schlansky is expected to return as O'Brien's familiar frenemy on Conan O'Brien Must Go season 2, riding on the success of the show at the 2024 Emmys, where it won the award for outstanding writing for a non-fiction program and was further nominated for outstanding hosted non-fiction series or special.
Conaco is the name of O'Brien's very own production company that is producing the show alongside Jeff Ross and O'Brien himself serving as executive producers.
Conan O'Brien speaks about Conan O'Brien Must Go and his adventures
Conan O'Brien is a much-talked-about name, especially after successfully hosting the latest edition of the Academy Awards. O'Brien gave an exclusive interview to The Hollywood Reporter last year, wherein he reflected on the travel show and various other subjects. When asked if, as a white man with a film crew, he ever felt conspicuous during his travels, O'Brien commented:
"Look, I’m not just white. I’m maybe one of the whitest people in America. I have this Lucille Ball hairdo and I’m 6-4 — 6-5 in boots. We went to Ghana with Sam Richardson (in 2019), and at one point, I ended up at a nightclub. There were maybe 400 people dancing, and I was the only white person. I realized I’d never experienced that before. It was powerful, realizing how many times a Black person is the only Black person in a room with a couple of hundred white people. It’s an unusual feeling."
He further added:
"I do like to be the odd person out, the one that doesn’t fit in. I think I’m funnier when I’m not in the power position. I was talking to one guy, and he was sort of looking at my skin, my freckles, and he’s like, “Are you ill?” Those are the situations that just inherently amuse me — when a bit of the joke is on me."
Conan O'Brien Must Go season 2 will air on May 8 exclusively on Max.
