ABC’s latest procedural drama, High Potential, has been renewed for a second season. However, a premiere date has not been shared. The Kaitlin Olson-starring show premiered in September 2024 and quickly became one of the year's top ABC dramas.

The show is based on the French-Belgian show, HPI, and created by Drew Goddard. It follows the story of Kaitlin Olson’s Morgan, a cleaning lady turned consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department. High Potential deals with Morgan’s challenges in managing her life and trying to look for her first husband, Roman.

The first season of High Potential only had 13 episodes, making it wrap up early on February 11, 2025, making the wait for Season 2 longer.

When will Season 2 of High Potential premiere? Details explored

As previously mentioned, High Potential follows Kaitlin Olson’s Morgan, a woman with an IQ of 160, who has become a consultant for the Los Angeles Police Department after solving a case for them.

The first season of the show had only 13 episodes, ending with several cliffhangers that will be answered in Season 2. While talking to The Wrap, showrunner Todd Hathran also agreed to this and said:

"We have a pretty healthy plan for how we’re going to kick off the season. I think one of the big mistakes that shows make is [saying] ‘Oh, let’s put a pin in both those cliffhangers, and we’ll get to them later,’ … you should probably satisfy one or the other so the audience doesn’t get pissed."

He also shared his thoughts about the number of episodes in season 2 might have, adding:

"We don’t know yet — we just know that we are coming back. I always assume it’s going to be at that 13 sweet spot, and then who knows after that? We barely scratched the surface with this cast last year — we didn’t go home with hardly anybody — family, friends, past traumas — there’s so much to do that however many episodes we have, each one of them will give us an opportunity to dig into the other characters in a meaningful way."

Additionally, the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Kaitlin Olson, who is also the co-producer of High Potential shared her own thoughts on her character Morgan’s journey in Season 2:

"Definitely exploring the relationships between characters more as well — I want to know what goes on with Soto’s life. A first season, you really have to give the main character most of the heavy lifting, because that’s the person that you’re interested in. I know that people are excited to dig into all of our other wonderful actors and their characters’ background, so I think that that’ll be really fun to do."

However, nothing about the premiere date of Season 2 was shared.
