**Disclaimer- This article speculates Arizona's return in Grey's Anatomy based on her past storyline and the author's opinion.**

Grey's Anatomy, ABC's long-running Medical procedural, has seen many cast members exit as it approached Season 21 this November.

Jessica Capshaw's Arizona Robbins was introduced in Season 6 as a pediatric surgeon at the Grey-Sloan Memorial. She quickly became a fan favorite because of her wit, charm, and dedication to her profession.

Since her exit still makes her a part of the show's universe and she is often mentioned on the show, fans were wondering when will Arizona come back to Grey's Anatomy.

While Capshaw left the show in Season 14, she returned for a special episode in Season 20, much to fans' delight. She is a popular character because of her relationship with Callie Torres.

More about Arizona's exit and subsequent return in the medical procedural in this story.

Why did Arizona exit Grey's Anatomy in Season 14?

It was rumored that Capshaw left the show after a decade because of creative differences with the showrunner and pay disputes with the production.

Arizona left in Season 14, but the groundwork for her exit started a few seasons before, keeping her relationship with Callie at the forefront.

Their relationship changed for the worse after the Season 8 finale. In the episode, Arizona's plane crashed when the team was heading for a conjoined twin separation surgery in Boise. The accident left her with a severe leg injury.

While Arizona wanted to keep her leg, it was not possible because of the infection. Hence, her wife took this difficult decision, and her leg was amputated. As a result, Arizona blames her wife for betrayal, and her trauma leads her to cheat on her in Season 9. Their relationship eventually ended in Season 11.

Callie moves to New York after Arizona wins their daughter Sofia's custody (but she decides to share it with her wife). The season 14 finale finally showed Arizona moving to New York with her daughter so that she could stay close to both of her mothers.

Arizona returned for a special episode in Grey's Anatomy Season 20. Can she make another appearance in the medical procedural?

The show often surprises fans with guest appearances from previous characters who have left the show. Arizona also returned in Season 20 Episode 4 titled, 'Baby Can I Hold You'

She returned for a special episode that 'made history' as Arizona, with the help of a team of experienced surgeons, performed fetal neurosurgery on a pregnant lady.

Arizona's return in Grey's Anatomy depicted the social message of a healthy pregnancy. We can expect many more issues being brought up with previous character returns, especially Arizona.

Arizona's return is also likely now since showrunner Krista Vernoff (who wrote off her character in Grey's Anatomy Season 14) has passed the torch to Meg Marinis as the show's new showrunner going forward in Season 20.

This creative change could bring back many past actors like Capshaw and reopen their storylines in Grey's Anatomy.

In addition, Capshaw is on-screen friends with many of Grey's actors, including Camilla Luddington's Jo Wilson. This adds to the speculation that the actress might appear in a further episode.
